Still in the classics... been reading Julius Caeser's Conquest of Gaul on my lunch breaks. there are no Gladiators, certainly no half naked girl gladiators, but I am only on book 2.So anyway I drew one. Ink drawing colored in Photoshop 7 with a photo composite background of an amphitheater somewhere... Roman colosseums and arenas have not survived well over the years sadly. I originally wanted her facial expression to look tired yet vicious, instead she came out looking tired yet smug and horny, but I liked it so it stayed.

Ah Caesar's De Bello Gallico? Fun fact: HBO Rome's Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo were inspired by two real-life Gallic veterans of the same name, former rivals who Caesar (probably on Cicero's word) documented as saving eachothers lives during a siege by the Arverni-led coalition?

The phrase on the picture means "Fortune favors the bold." It's a quote from Virgil's Aeneid, and supposedly the last thing Pliny the Elder said before heading back into Pompeii to try to save people from the volcano. The image name means "We who are about to die, salute you." which was the traditional greeting given by gladiators to the Roman Emperor before the games began (and was often true).
