Description
Miyuki's cover from this comic here.I worked the two covers up separately and slid them in to the comic, and in both cases the way the black ops guy is holding the magazine causes his hand to largely be in the way. Additionally the text was too small to read, which has no impact on the comic, but here it is if you were wondering.
I've tried to follow the typical convention of Playboy covers, with a minimal background and a crowded blob of text enumerating all the articles that almost no one reads. I didn't put too much into the layout, since it wasn't really going to show.
Ink drawing colored in photoshop.
Enjoy,
~D

You know, you've done Miyuki and Clarissa. Which both are great. But, Are you going to draw Lyta? Please respond

I'd think fighter pilots just read regular playboy... actually since I did them for this comic here - [link] I only did the two I needed. It could have been a three way cycle, but I wanted to get it finished and up.
Maybe it'll feature in a sequel, but I'd need another magazine she'd want to trade it for.

I'm obviously a huge fan of Miyuki, so I would never be able to pass up the salvaged cover of Miyuki's playboy shoot, especially since nearly the entire printing was destroyed in a mysterious, ninja style arson. It's just too bad that none of the rest of her shots managed to survive.
Just had to bring that back in. On a more subtle note, I love the fact that the ninja bunny in the corner is wearing the same style mask. Very clever touch, P.C

Presumably that's a complete copy the Black Ops Guy is reading. Also remember, he didn't say it was unique, only hard to find, so I expect there's at least one more copy in a safe in Area 51 somewhere. Seems unlikely he'd put irreplaceable erotica at risk in a war zone.
I might draw part of the photo shoot eventually - it'd be fun, if not terribly highbrow. The last of these eight boxes may be related, although I don't think I've ever seen a playboy model winking.

He did say hard to find, didn't he...? Well now, that's interesting. Locked up in Area 51? Hmm... That might just work.
As per the winking, Miyuki is one of a kind after all, so why not have a one of a kind pose?

In the back of Hangar 29, where Aurora Prototype D is stored, there are some cryogenic tubes with aliens in them, and wedged in between is a manilla envelope full of playninja magazines... but I've said too much.
If she wanted to wink during her photoshoot, I don't think the photographer would dare tell her not to...

Hanger 29... here we go. Behind the Aurora... ah, the Aurora Prototype D. Now I just need to find the cryogenic tu... Whoa! Those are real freakin' aliens. Whatever, manilla envelope, manilla envelope, manilla... (click) oh, hey, umm... I was just... kinda got myself a little turned around you know, place is a maze back here. I was just looking for... What? Okay, I'll follow you, that sounds like a wonderful idea... where are we going? Around back? What's around back?
Don't know why I did this, but it was there in my head, so I put it down. I was sooo close too.

Your vision begins to focus back to normal from a white blur, and you realize you're standing next to a highway in the desert; a metal sign proclaims it to be SR 375, under which a hand painted plywood sign suggests you buy souvenirs in Rachel, NV, which must be the small cluster of single story buildings to the southwest. You can't remember anything that happened since Monday, or you think it was Monday. All you know is that you are certain there is not a manila envelope, nor has there ever been one.
In fact, you're not even certain why you came to the desert; you have vague formless memories of talking to a penguin in an airport bar, second hand stories of a soldier in Afghanistan, the rumor of fabled ninja erotica. Carefully depositing the maraschino cherry from his whiskey sour onto a cocktail napkin, he calmly and quietly recited secret locations with numbers for names, the glass motionless in his flipper.
An 18-wheeler roars past on the highway, pushing a wave of heat and diesel, disturbing your reverie. Area 51, Hangar 29. How hard could it be?
Hangar 29... here we go.
Unrelated (or is it?) how's the writing coming?

Well first let me say that your writing in this was wonderful, especially the part about the plywood sign. I don't know why, but that helped pull me into it even more.
As for the story I am writing, it is going very well actually. I recently breached chapter 2 and I currently stand at page 9.
It has picked up quite a bit but, and this may work in my favor, it seems to be moving along a little quicker than originally anticipated. If it maintains this pace, the story may actually draw to a close around page 20 or 25. But I make no guarantees.
I will need to find the limit on submission size, because I seriously doubt I will be able to submit the whole thing at once. As I see a lot of people do here, I may simply submit by chapter (if you would like a sample I could submit chapter 1 for you) but I am still having minor difficulties maintaining my Word formatting in DeviantArt. With that said, it may require minor tweaking before it is ready.
(But just to let you know, it is my primary focus *outside of work* so it IS coming.) Thanks For Asking.

Throughout the west the best indicator that you're in the shadow area between cities and wilderness is a hand painted sign on the roadside selling something; oranges, berries, corn, arrowheads, kachina dolls, petrified wood. Usually it's on plywood or sheet metal, but I've seen old car hoods as well. they make a place feel real because you know they'll be there.
Wow, 20+ pages is much longer than I thought, but that'll be awesome to see. The longest thing I've ever written was about that, and, being my BA thesis, it was massively padded with footnotes, and several completely unnecessary diagrams.

I've seen a couple of those wonderfully original signs, but never paid them much attention. Of course had I seen something like the car hood you mentioned, I'm fairly sure that would stick with me.
Well, I am glad that you're still intrigued, I have to admit a level of when I realized the story was going to be longer than anticipated. Some people prefer the short and simple style, but unfortunately I do not dictate the length of my stories... my muse does.
Sometimes she gives me short and sweet, other times (like in the case of The Powers That Be) she gives me an epic that currently stands at 38 pages and I'm not even to the half way point.
Let me assure you, however, that there are no footnotes or unnecessary diagrams of any kind. I will submit this story as soon as I am able. (story, not poem) Thanks Again!

You see car parts (and train and plane parts) finding new and creative uses throughout the southwest; they were dumped there because they won't rust (there's a pretty cool fence in Mojave made of old plane propellers).
Length is no problem, I read incredibly fast. Mostly I just like to see how other people envision what I've put up here, which is why it's cool to see things like what you're working on, and 's recent art trade pics. It's kind of a way for me to step back and get a new perspective on something very familiar.

Well, if that isn't a major bit of encouragement, I don't know what is. One of the reasons I like 'Fan Fictions' (which is essentially what this is) is because I get to take something well known and give it my own twist.
I've done Kim Possible, Lara Croft, and a couple of Outer Limits concepts. Just for DeviantArt I have Longing, based on only one of the images I hope to story-ize from OddPixels and now this one with Miyuki. I Am Loving This!
*On a somewhat negative note. I will be packing up my computer for a move, and will unfortunately not have easy access to the internet for a while. I will post the story, saved to a jump drive and thus very portable, when it is concluded*

If you pick up a Playboy from just about any time up to the last couple years, it seemed to always have an essay by Norman Mailer. When I went to go look at covers online to see the general layout, most of them had a plug for that month's essay.
Although I don't know how he'd be submitting them now that he's dead. It makes the neolithic burial mounds ominous in a way I hadn't thought of.
