And I once saw a movie with those uhm.. worm things with like 6 rows of teeth when they opened their mouths. Dunno what it was called though, but it sure scared me ..

RooCat In reply to pergamjee [2010-09-12 18:16:46 +0000 UTC]

I had read the Frank Herbert 4 book series before I saw the movie. I was surprised that they kept so well to the book. The Open Maw does look like what you'd imagine looking down the throat of a duneworm would look like (even if in miniature).

Maybe it's because I'm an avid reader of scifi, scifantasy, and fantasy.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

pergamjee In reply to RooCat [2010-09-12 19:25:47 +0000 UTC]

aahhh...so, you are familiar with the works of Isaac Asimov, HG Wells, Larry Niven, Arthur C Clarke? You are an avid reader - are you also a fan of scifi movies? You like the premise of Total Recall? Are you also a fan of anime? Have you seen the scifi anime Vexille?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RooCat In reply to pergamjee [2010-09-12 20:21:34 +0000 UTC]

Of course. Not so much as many of the movies depart too much from the stories or distort them but some I like. The premise of Total Recall had great promise but I really couldn't get into the movie at the time. Maybe I should revisit it. I'm not into anime particularly. Just never held my attention. Another thing I might revisit... In my limited spare time which never seems to be enough for even the things I really want to do. Sigh...

Piers Anthony, Robert Asprin, Sprague De Camp, C.J. Cherryh, Gordon Dickson, Terry Brooks, Damon Knight, Robert Heinlein, Alan Foster, Guy Kay, Frederik Pohl, Theodore Sturgeon, Roger Zelany, Larry Niven, Tanith Lee, Anne McCaffrey, Andre Norton, James Morrow, , you get the drift.

Time ... yes, a precious commodity. I could never understand people who complain about being bored, with nothing to do during the holidays or whatever.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RooCat In reply to pergamjee [2010-09-12 22:30:02 +0000 UTC]

Nor do I! Boredom is something I've never suffered from but I'm curious about many things and always seem to have an endless list of projects to do, much less my work which seems never-ending (which is good since it's my income - self-employed).
