Description
The (in)famous ferret-scene from GoF …My very first attempt at drawing this scene was a funny-looking Malfoy, but suddenly this seemed so wrong …
Malfoy and Harry have an argument, Malfoy loses control of himself and attacks at exactly the moment Harry turns away. Moody calls this “attacking from behind” to taking out some aggressions on the son of a former “colleague”. He abuses Malfoy physically and emotionally. In short: We see a Death Eater at work – and we cry with laughter ..........
For a long time, I didn’t realize that Malfoy behaves quite dignified: Right after being transformed back into a boy, he gets to his feet, wincing, but by himself!
It’s interesting how accurate – and manipulating – Jo’s writing from Harry’s perspective is: At the Quidditch World Cup, the Death Eaters have a little fun with some Muggles, but I didn’t have to laugh … Then, something similar, but more brutal, happens to Harry’s nemesis – and suddenly it’s very funny!
All this inspired me to other attempts at the same scene: I tried to draw it from the perspective of a neutral observer, of someone, who happens to be there, but doesn’t know the involved persons. This was an interesting thing to do, because it somewhat switches “good” and “bad”: Crabbe, Goyle and Pansy become nice, because they care about their friend. Harry’s and Ron’s behaviour though, is displeasing.

If I were Astoria Malfoy, immediately after giving birth to Scorps, I would have swapped the real baby for a ferret when I handed it to Draco as a joke.

Wow I really love it when art makes you think of things in a different way and your POV definitely makes you think.
Personally I never liked the idea in the books that you have to hate Draco just because Harry does.

I agree i almost smiled at that part- but then Draco actually was hurt, and that was absolutely humiliating- and i thought- That's wrong. Inspires deep thinking, the world is not black and white

I really love and respect this point of view. It has a point and you really explained that. I totally Agree with you, about everything.
you're supposed to love the main character, and hate the enemies. for some reason that's like an unwritten rule or something. However, I think it's wrong to hate the nemesis if you doesn't know the background. As for Draco. We have no idea how he grew up. It's obvious Narcissa and Lucius loves him (as they went against everything and everyone in search of him), but we still don't know under what surcumstances(?) he was brought up. Harry had a hard childhood, we know that buhu, but everyone else? all the Slytherins? I mean, there must be a reason for them to be as they are. A baby just doesn't turn out to be evil, right?
So I agree. It's wrong for an author, director or whatever it is that writes and portrays(?) that characters, to do what they do.. It's hard to explain what I mean (English is not my first language). But yeah, Just because the enemy gets hurt like that, it's not funny. He's still a human with feelings, and didn't Mad-eye attack him from behind as well? it's not like Draco had any chanse to defend himself. And Mad-eye is, after all, a teacher.
Got a bit much there. I just wanted to let you know that I haven't thought of that perspective before, but it's now very clear, and I agree with you. The picture is very very good and I like that Hermione seems angry at Harry and Ron for enjoying the scene. She is angry with them because of that, isn't she?

I agree.
I also noticed while reading HP, Malfoy never uses physical violence in the books. He never strikes anyone or punshies someone like I believe Ron does to him in DH and Hermione slaps him in prisoner of azkaban. I think that speaks volumes about his upbringing. He can't help the fact he thinks mudbloods are lower than him , it's what he was programmed to believe. Great artwork and I think u made a great point

I'm not sure if there is another book that is as easy to bash as twilight ... I mean, OK there are a lot of bad romances, but that one is bad beyond words. In fact it is beyond bad fanfiction - and I've seen a lot of those.

Alright, maybe I shouldn't say much since English isn't my first language. But hey, I don't feel like using words I don't understand. Besides I can do Thesaurus rape myself with the help of online dictionaries. I mean, I might want to gasconade with my imposing vocabulary comprising of polysyllabic and sophisticated verbalisms Well, alright, thats not quite Twilight. Twilight are plain, unimpressive, ordinary sentences containing overlong words at random.

I actually found that scene hilarious until one day I read a fanfic and I was like O.O "Sorry Draco, hehe"
But yeah... I think sometimes you get so caught up in the magic and in their POV's that you don't stop to think "Hey - is this right?"
Love the pic, and your style is cool.

Wow... I never thought of this particular scene in that way. I've always tried to be neutral. Okay. I admit it, I am pretty sympathetic towards the Slytherins. But this scene- I've just thought, "Oh, poor him", never really gave much more thought. So that's partly why I absolutely adore this. You've given a set of plausible reasons, given a persuasive paragraph, and drawn a great picture. I love it.

Thanks. Yes, Malfoy deserved it, but what bothers me is that Harry has done worse - and got away with it. While I don't mind Goodies doing bad stuff - in contrary, it's a must if you want me to read the book - I want them to have to pay the same price for their bad deeds like the bad guys. Best example is Harry using an unforgivable curse in book 7 against someone (I've forgotten who) and JKR tells later in an interview that we had to understand his reason. I do not mind that Harry uses the curse, but I completely refuse to understand it. This upset me so much, that I've not read anything JKR has said ever since. I'm not sure if I ever will again.

ys, i agree. charcters must have flaws, but good guys get away with stuff, its just a part of life, because they have good intentions.
i'm not really all that mad at harry for using imperio, because it was neccessary, he did it with good intentions. all he did was make avery and the goblin help him so he could make thm both safe from voldemort, as well as everybody else, and all they di was hide too. i am not very hapy he used crucio on one of those death eatre twins ? for get their names XD) because you ahev to mean it, and i don't think good guys everwant to torture people.
i still get why he did it though, harry's not perfect, and that what i love about him

And nice work, as always !

You've made an intereting observation by comparing the two scenes, but left out on important consideration. At the World Cup the Muggles are innocent victims, for the lack of a better term powerless mortals who have stumbled into Faerie. We also know from the previous books that Death Eaters = BAD GUYS, so there's no question of taking pleasure in their victims' plight unless you're a Bad Guy as well.
With Malfoy vs. Moody we have what is essentially a complete reversal of the earlier scenario. We've observed through all the earlier encounters that Draco is arrogant, spoiled, bigoted, and cowardly -- a coplete and total wanker, who also happens to think Voldemort is the greatest thing since sliced Mudblood. Moody (so far as we know at this point) received all his battle scars fighting people just like Malfoy aspires to be. So when he turns Draco into the Amazing Bouncing Ferret, it reminds us of every time a schoolyard bully has gotten away with murder and we've prayed some teacher would come along and yak him up by the short hairs. Of course we all laugh!
Nice artwork, by the way, definitely a very individualistic style. Not too sure if I like your depiction of the ladies, their facial features come across a bit mannish for my tastes, but definitely a unique style. Good work.

Dunno if you want me to answer, since we obviously disagree...
But I can't help but tell you that I completely fail to understand how you can put schoolyard bullies on a level with murderers! A lot of people are stupid at that age... and grow out of it. And there are nice people who ends up to do bad things...
Plus, there's a mistake in your argumentation: Moody didn't get the scars as a hero since this isn't Moody but a Death Eater! So there are Death Eater who tortures Muggles in the beginning of the book and another Death Eater who tortures a not to nice but most definitely not evil student in the middle of the book. According to your own argumentation you're not supposed to "take pleasure in their victims' plight unless you're a Bad Guy as well."
And that's what I've meant in the beginning!

This is, put simply, just beautiful. Draco has always been my favourite character in the series and I imagined the books from his point of view. I feel for him and the rest of the "villians" whose actions are never explained or seen in a positive light. I love your work and how you represent Rowling's work, although reading a couple of comments for an other of your submissions, I simply can't agree with a draco/ginny relationship.
Anyways, keep up the great work!

Thanks a lot - also for the
My fav character's Harry, but I love Malfoy almost the same. I love JKR for writing the books so consequently from Harry's POV, but you still can guess how the same scene must have felt for Malfoy. So you can work out where the plot must lead... what always let me construct theories, some may be rather strange I think D/G's a bit like that... altough, believe me, it's pretty normal and realistic in comparation to other things I've made up XD
But things like that are just for fun. It's fun to "bet" on something against 90% of the fandom! When I lose this "bet", I'll laugh about myself and when I win it, I'll be very, very happy with myself I'm kind of proud to have "foreseen" that Harry is almost going to kill Draco while the biggest part of fandom thought that Harry would save Draco. But I'm not very sure if my argumentation for this was so ingenious or if I had just luck
