Description I wanted to draw this for 3 years. And that means, that I've thought a lot about it. But if I had to tell you what, I'm never going to upload it, because I've just no time to write long descriptions these days. Therefore, feel free to come up with your own story....

I really like this picture.I think it's perfectly captured, and like someone else said i like the fact you made Draco unsure and hesitant and Harry not all smiles and hey, let's be friends-like.There are 6-7 seven years history behind this gesture and it wouldn't be something easy. But it's definatelly something big in such a small move and i think the whole picture - from their poses, their expressions, the colours you used - shows this.
Very strong piece.Well-done.

Thank you. It's exactly the history between them that makes their relationship intriguing. I'm not interested in perfect friends, but in people that have issues and have to work them out. It all started when I was 8 years old and read Astrid Lindgren's famous book Ronia the Robber's Daughter... ever since I've hunted books that deals with enemies becoming friends... or fanfictions. Seriously, there are some fanfictions out there that are better and more profound than many books.

Hmm,interesting..I,too,like books and movies examining this subject as well as the other way round, friends or family becoming enemies. That's one of the reasons i like those old school crime/mystery novels, seeing how people's relationships end up the way they do.
I don't really read fanfiction but i barely ever skip a book recommendation - i haven't read Ronia the Robber's Daughter but looking it up (and coming across an illustrated version by one of my favourite illustrators,Trina Schart Hyman) i'd be interested in reading it.

Draco va rejoindre le bon camp j'en suis sûre (et harry ne lui en veut même pas d'ailleurs dixit le tome 6) par contre je ne suis pas sûre qu'il ait assez de courage pour se battre à ses côté...à vérifier bientôt !!!

Malfoy Redeemed! Forgiveness! Maybe after book seven we will have a description for it. That is if Draco makes it. I love the coloring and how prominent the dark mark is. To me this really highlights how truly forgiving Harry is. I also like how Draco is leaning back a little. Possibly in fear or shock.

Urm... actually no... what did Malfoy do to Harry, that Harry could forgive? Their hatred is mutual. If one of them has to forgive tough, it is Malfoy. What ever he may have done, he never, never, never tried to kill Harry. Harry has to tell him that he's sorry.

This is a late reply but I must respectfully disagree. Draco has wounded many of Harry's friends maliciously. From racial slurs about Hermione to trying to get Hagrid fired and murder Buckbeak. Also now that book seven is out there is the who ever lasting fire thing that ended up helping Harry but was intended for harm. I know Harry isn't a saint but I still think that Draco needs to ask for forgiveness not the other way around. I was bummed that his character wasn't redeemed in DH.

The point is, that Harry is just as racial towards Slytherins, even tough JKR is not aware of this fact. Actually, with creating a world that contained evil Purebloods against poor Muggleborns, she failed to see that she has created with the Slytherins just another Minority that stands alone against very unfair so called goodie-two-shoes. I'm very upset because of the was JKR has treated the Slytherins. But there is nothing I can do about it - it is her book. Therefore I've decided to not think any longer about it. Maybe, one day, I'm going to illustrate fanfics, that respects Slytherins, but canon is for me just as unworthy to discuss like bad fanfics.

That's cool. I don't agree with you but that's what's nice about this site...all the diversity of opinions and interpretations.

Just a thought but don't you think Slughorn and Snape were very good representations of honorable Slytherins?

periwinkle-blue In reply to Seeker-Mar [2007-09-15 08:23:30 +0000 UTC]

When it comes down to Snape beeing good, I really feel to quote Mistful about the "Morals" of the HP books: "A good Slytherin is a dead Slytherin."

Honorable they were not, but... but I think that Draco and Lucius are true heros, since they are willing to go to any length for their family without wasting one thought about the "greater good." I've hudge issues with people who sacrifice themselves for the greater good like Lupin or Harry... and therefore I hate almost all goodies in HP... But obviously, JKR doesn't want us to think like that.

I really like this pic o3o
The atmosphere created by the lack of colours, the blood, the look of both boys.
Your pics are allways that amazing, even if the style so totally not after my fancy ( sounds weird oO ) I can't but really admire your pics... even if I don't know why and therefore not writing comments.
Maybe it's because you always have these storys behind your pics, they aren't things which are resulting out of boredom...
Well back to the pic Now it's Harrys turn to reach his hand out for Draco. I like the thing they both share and the story between them.. it's something deep

Yeah... das, was zwischen Harry and Draco vorgeht, reicht wirklich tief. Ich kenne kein anderes Buch, indem eine Schuljungen-Feindschaft so facettenreich und dreidimensional aufgebaut ist!

Hmmmmmmm... I'll be really interested to see what J.K. ends up doing with Draco in the last book.

Everything about this looks great. The colours, the blood and wounds, Draco and Harry's expressions which remind me of Snape being forced to shake Sirius' hand. The boys look like they've been through hell, but this is the hardest thing expected of them yet.
Very nice/

I imagine, that giving Draco his hand would be the hardest thing that Harry has done so far: admitting, that he has been wrong... and fearing, that Draco may decline, just like he has done years ago...

I do, tough.... that it will happen the one way or the other. It may look nothing like on my drawing. But I'm clearly expecting something along the idea behind this drawing: Harry realizing that Draco is his equal, someone just as good (or bad) as him. And he's going to have to make the first step, since HE refused Draco's friendship in first time. And he's going to need him: They both have the same task - killing the most powerful wizard of their time - but only one of them has succeeded so far...

You know, I'd like this to happen. Not the slash part, but the fact that Draco isn't as bad ass as he seems and Harry realizes that. I'm a H/Hr and a D/G person so I'm not going for the slash ...at least with this series. But that's another story.

periwinkle-blue In reply to CutieBlossom [2007-07-14 00:39:18 +0000 UTC]

Slash part? Can you tell me what is that slashy? Sure, you can interpret it as H/D and I'm also OK with that since I like H/D fics, but I was more thinking at them becoming friends...

CutieBlossom In reply to periwinkle-blue [2007-07-14 01:01:23 +0000 UTC]

Slash as in...umm....yaoi....homosexual. I was thinking more becoming friends too. I have nothing against slash pairings. I'm just not a H/D fan. I would like them to become friends though. Guess we'll see soon, huh?

Uuhh.... it was 2 at night, when I've written my last comment... it seems that I wasn't able to write the correct question I know what Slash is. But I was wondering, why you thought that my drawing was "slashy".

(I like slash and HBP was the reason to start to read it. Slash-fics or often the better written fics -- at least when it comes down to my requirements. But... although I'm reading slash since 2 year, I've never got really used to the boy-kissing-boy-thing... )

CutieBlossom In reply to periwinkle-blue [2007-07-14 19:19:35 +0000 UTC]

OH! Sorry! See, I thought you said in your desc of ur pic that you could take the picture how you wanted it and I just meant that I didn't think it was so much of a slash picture that it was more of a picture where the two become friends.

Towards slash stories, I won't disagree with you. Sometimes, it's just better to stay off of fanfiction.net for stories and stray else where for the better written stories. At least, that's what I've found. As I've stated before, I do like slash stories and find nothing against them, I just usually don't read Harry/Draco ones.

After a long and arduous battle Harry turns to Draco and reaches out to shake his former enemy's hand. Draco looks at the offered hand, then looks at Harry and grimly starts to shake it.

Really great mood you've created. Draco looks like he's unsure but decides that they aren't enemies anymore... or something.
