I've thought since quite a long time that they were related. The Black Family Tree sort of confirmed it...

Canon wise, I'm a horrible, delusional H/Hr shipper - I mean, I completely believe that it is going to happen. I tried to talk me out of it for 2 years, but everything I've managed is, that I believe even more in it. Emotionally, I'm not sure what I feel for it, tough. It's kind of... tainted? I don't know... but this shipping war has destroyed a few things for me.

H/LL is cool -- and I like H/LL-shippers! After HBP, the best theories and interpretations of the book were written by H/LL shippers

D/G is weird, because I used to ship it fanon wise, but since OotP also canon wise. It's an exception, because non of my canon ships is identical with my fanon ships. I also don't really like D/G fics. Fic wise, I'm a H/D shipper, but I don't like slash. I just like the fics, because they're a lot more plotdriven than het fics.

Aw, it sucks about the ship wars sinking your... ship. But think of it this way, you start drawing H/LL work, and it's more art for me to look at. XD I have to admit I read mione/tom riddle fics too... hehe

I just love that Tom Riddle. Most of my fav HBP chapters were the ones about Tom.

A shipping wars sinking your ship? I've never thought about it that way... but it's sort of true...

H/LL... I always wanted to draw it and also started several times... I doesn't want to go somewhere... there was once a very small OotP-screencape with Luna touching Harry's hand. I always hoped, that I would get a high res version of it, because then I could draw it. Unfortunately, it never came. I'm still hoping, tough...

I've read a Parody with Hermione/Voldemort once. But the pairing of my second favourite fic is worse: Hermione/Lucius. The author is simply ingenious and makes it work. I don't think that I could aford this ship from anyone else.

Draco yes, but Harry only as long as he doesn't realize that he's under the influence of a LP Harry seem to like another type of women... let's think about the women he described as "beautiful"... Narcissa, Bellatrix? Did you see this short film about the filming of the MoM-scenes in OotP? There is a lot of sexual tension between Harry and Bella

"Makes one wonder if there was ever something between James and Bella, since Harry is the spittin' image---"

But sometimes I think also that Draco is the product of Lucius/Bella... or maybe more of Lucius/Sirius

Hmm... I don't know, but Bella's lovelife could become intriguing. I cannot imagine her as a faithful wife... that's the image she's fighting! A past Lucius/Bella seemed always an option and these days I'm wondering about Bella/Frank Longbottom. Since Bella is the mirror of Sirius, there must be something hidden there. For example, Bella could be Neville's goodmother. Plus, I've put Trevor on my Horcrux list. On of Neville's parent may have transformed it into a toad -- like fudge transformed the minister's cup into a mouse. No Death Eater would ever suspect the pet of a baby to be a Horcrux.

A year ago, if one had told me that I would be in a conversation about Harry Potter I would have scoffed. Now, *shrugs*...

*Grins* I'm not a fan-fic writer by any way, shape, or means, as I prefer to use my own intellectual property by designing my own characters instead of using someone's ready-made, but I do get a tickle about this whole Bella-James thing. (I'm sure I'm not the only bloke to ever have the idea) It seems reasonable to me that since James and Sirius meshed so well in their friendship that Bella would be compatible as well. It is especially probable considering James' bad-boy reputation and Lily's spurning him in their early years at Hogwarts. Bella seems to never have grown out of her goth phase. She also reminds me of the type of woman that is outrageously feminist. (I am extremely hesitant to imply she leans toward lesbianism, as that gets me to yuri territory, and I have no desire to go there)
There is the Slytherin/Griffindor problem to consider, though. Ah, perhaps an illicit affair? Room of Requirement, anyone?
I'd like to see more history from the previous generation's stay at Hogwarts. Perhaps now that JKR is finished with Harry, she might--- Ah, probably not.
Hrm. Lucius+Bella is definitely another possiblility, considering they are both pureblood. I doubt it ended pretty, however, considering their interactions in OotP. As nefarious a Death Eater as Lucius is, I doubt he has the stones to cheat on Narcissa.
Considering Bella + Frank, I seriously doubt it, but that might just be my loyalty to Neville speaking. I doubt that an auror as good as Frank Longbottom would fall prey to the schemes of a Death Eater. Conversely, Voldemort and his followers have shown themselves to be adept at manipulation and covert operation, so...? Still, my gut feeling is that Frank wouldn't have touched Bella with a 10-foot pole.
Considering that, I don't think that Voldy would have risked bonding a piece of his soul to something as random as a pet toad, especially the pet toad of his prophesized enemy. We've already seen his propensity toward strong magical artifacts. So if Frank did find a horcrux before he went insane (what exactly was Bella torturing them for, anyway?), why not destroy it instead of transmuting it?
-Just a few things to think about. It is an interesting intellectual excercise to consider what might be in the last book. It will be more interesting still to see who's ideas are spot on, and who are the loonies.

If you have time, add to your request list some Bella + James stuff. I'd be interested to see what kind of dynamic you can create.

I never knew that the peeps in Harry Potter were all related distantly! No way! Thats like... they need to met with Dr. Phil and Oprah... for some reason. Or Jerry Springer cuz they always seem to be neck'n it with each other in fanfictions. But I guess it cant be too bad, I've had this huge crush on the local weatherman and my grandma told me last month that he was my 2nd cousing or something like that. Made me sad I really wanted him!!!

Oh yeah, I really like Draco's pointed chin... tis awesome.

"But I think another reason why I dont remember that part is because I am/was a Potter closet fan. Really. When Harry Potter first came out and everyone went crazy with it I refused to read the books or get sucked into the Harry Potter world." <-- It was exactly the same with me I've watched to the first movie, because I wanted to know why all people were so crazy about HP... oh, and my fundamental christian family had made some *publicity* as well....

And then I sat in that movie, thought "weeeeell.... not *that* bad, and this Snape guy is sort of cool, but he's clearly the bad boy because it's a children's book. Only in a very good book, the author would use such a character as a distraction." Snape was not the bad guy. Therefore HP was a great story. The next day, I went to town to buy the books

And.... don't lose hope because of the weatherman... if I'm not wrong, you're allowed to marry second cousins. You just can't marry your first cousins

Yay! Im not the only one! That makes me feel better. The Harry Potter world is just so large and powerful its daunting! I thought the same, about it being some kiddy book that just so happened to be written really well but NOO. This this has twists and turns some drama novels cant compete with.

I love Snape. Really really LOVE Snape... him and his actor Alan Rickman sex-god-of-the-universe (to me at least ) I do hope that he comes out alright by the end of this series, as a hero or as dead. But not as evil, no - never evil.

I made my roommate reserve the 7th book so I could read it after her and get the sticker that says "Trust in Snape", Im pathetic!

Yes! second cousin here I come! I first need to actually meet him.. maybe at a family reunion party or something, I've only ever seen him on the t.v. that sexy little guy... with his sexy little tie... gr... weatherman...

I couldn't wait that long... I'm going to buy it early in the morning on July 21... I'm not going to a midnight selling, tough Ah well, and I've another reasons as well: Fandom is just as intriguing as the books--and I'm sure that there is another wank coming. I want to see it from the beginning. It was pretty fascinating the last time...

I dont understand. "I'm sure that there is another wank coming. I want to see it from the beginning. It was pretty fascinating the last time..." What exactly do you mean by that?

And I totally agree about the fandom. Actually, I believe its the characters that are developed by fanfic authors that intrigue me more than the characters in the books. There are just so many characters and they all mean so much to the Harry Potter books, but they can only have so much text space, you know? And even if her books are the most serious of children books, Im sure she wouldn't go to the extremities that some of us fanfic readers like.

I've meant, that some people won't like the book and go berserk. There are different groups in fandom and they will attack each other, call each other stupid and not able to read books or whatever. In short, they are going to act like complete idiots. Like last time. Especially the R/Hr and the H/Hr shipper went nuts. (This sort of behaviour is called a "wank", IMO a very appropriate name.)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NautilusL2 In reply to greendesire [2007-03-18 07:51:44 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I read the 5th book. But I read it back when it came out. I don't own the book personally or any of the Harry Potter books for that matter, so I dont have the opportunity to re-read the books (a shame!)

But I think another reason why I dont remember that part is because I am/was a Potter closet fan. Really. When Harry Potter first came out and everyone went crazy with it I refused to read the books or get sucked into the Harry Potter world. I watched my 11 year old sister just tumble further and further down into the world of Harry Potter books, games and toys. Then when the first movie was going to come out, I watched the trailer and fell in love with the music (done by John Williams, my fave). That was what interested me about HP.

So in the dead of night, while my sister lay sleeping... I crawled into her room, grabbed the first book and read the back cover. Then I read the first page... and then it went to the first chapter... and then by the end of the night SOME HOW I had read the whole book without realizing it. So yeah. Big hypocrite. Thats how I read every Harry Potter book. My little sister would get the book, read it in the day, and I would take it at night and read it really really fast so she wouldn't know. She still doesn't know I'm a HP fan. And I lurve Harry Potter - him and the whole gang and their world. But don't tell her!

So what was the scoop that happened in the 5th book? Refresh my memory a bit, I dont really remember ^__^

periwinkle-blue In reply to Kaiser-Phoenix [2007-03-17 16:04:59 +0000 UTC]

As far as I can tell, Ron and Draco are just fourth cousins. And Harry and Ron are forth cousins as well. Bellatrix and Ginny (or Ron) would be 3rd cousins once removed, tough. The expression "removed" means, that the people are from different generations. If you want to know, what all these expressions mean, you can read [link] -- unfortunately I don't find the site again I consulted yesterday... it was very good explained

Plus, I'm inclined to say, that Draco knows... Family is very important for Purebloods. Ron probably knows that all Purebloods are somehow related, but he hardly know what sort of cousin he is with Malfoy

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kaiser-Phoenix In reply to periwinkle-blue [2007-03-17 21:06:12 +0000 UTC]

Harry and Ron can only be cousins if Charlus Potter's son was James Potter. This fact, however likeley has never been confirmed. Draco may know about his distant relations, but I don't think that Tonks knows, because in HBP, she calls Draco 'the Malfoy boy'

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

periwinkle-blue In reply to Kaiser-Phoenix [2007-03-18 00:28:30 +0000 UTC]

You're right, JKR never confirmed this... and by the way, I think that Charlus was James Grandfather, not father. But this too, is just a theory. It just makes sense, that Charlus is a direct ancestor of Harry, because it's not a natural family tree, JKR constructed it. Dunno about Tonks... she must know that he's her Cousin! But maybe she's never met him...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kaiser-Phoenix In reply to periwinkle-blue [2007-03-18 10:23:46 +0000 UTC]

Maybe Tonks just dosen't like Draco, as Sirius disliked Bellatrix. I'm not so sure, but it seems very likely that Harry is related to Charlus Potter through James. In the likely event that he is, that would make him and Draco third cousins. So, hypothetically, they are third cousins. was that what you were getting at?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

periwinkle-blue In reply to Kaiser-Phoenix [2007-03-18 10:49:23 +0000 UTC]

3rd cousin... yes, exactly

I don't think that Tonks dislikes Draco since she probably doesn't know him very well. (Sirius clearly knew Bellatrix. There is something very personal in their interactions, they knew and hated each other for a long time.) I think, that Tonks knows that Draco's her cousin, but she might not have spoken to him a lot, if at all. It depends in which house she was, but I guess that she was a Slytherin. But still, she's 4 or 5 years older than him. Malfoy boy? She still sees him as a child.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kaiser-Phoenix In reply to periwinkle-blue [2007-03-18 15:47:01 +0000 UTC]

It may be so, but it seems that Draco may not want (or his Father may not want) to associate himself with 'blood traitors', since Tonks is the daughter of Andromeda, who is the middle Black sister, but disowned for marrying Ted Tonks, 'a muggle-born'.
I doubt that Draco and Tonks have met, even if they have, they can't be very close. It is likely that she was a Slythein, because Andromeda was one, and Slughorn says that all the Blacks were in Slytherin, except Sirius, who was a Gryffindor. I'm not so sure that even if they have met, (or were to meet) that they would get along too well.

JKR has drawn the Black family tree and sold it on an auction for charity (and Dan Radcliffe has bought it ) There were (not very clear) scans from that family tree and some people reconstructed it, you can see it here: [link]

The cousin thing bases on the assumption, that Charlus Potter -- who's mentioned on the tree -- is an ancestor of Harry and that Harry is his great-grandson. Harry could also be his Grandson, then Draco and Harry were second cousins once removed (and Harry and Bellatrix were second cousins )

Draco is the 4th cousin from Ron, if the disowned Septimius Weasley is Ron's Great Grandfather. But this is almost sure, because Sirius indicaties these relations in OotP. Harry and Ron are 4th cousins if Harry is the great-grandson of Charlus Potter.

For more of these intriguing connections you can study the tree.
