Description
The Dust poiser is one of the many diverse species of poisers. This species in particular specializes in hunting slug bugs and raiding their nests. While the slug bugs have chemical defenses for such an attack, the dust poiser is resistant to them and will only be irritated by them. The poiser also has special mucus that coats the eyes to prevent damage. It's wide feet and large back leg allows for the poiser to catapult itself into the air to catch slug bugs. It's claw bristle feet gives the poised exceptional climbing ability to reach food in higher to reach areas. It's range is limited to red jungles for protection from larger predators that would make a quick meal. Displayed here is a male dust poiser who is displaying a large orange tail that they use for courtship and display. The brighter colors show the fitness of an individual male. The holes on it's gill sail help produce a sound to attract one another and each sex produces a different and unique sound. These sounds can be heard after large rain storms when the air has higher pressure.
