Loading Google Earth II... I'm not mocking you, I could very easily see this as the start-up screen for that program. Too bad I can't go there yet... I was going to ask about ice caps but it seems OblivionJunkey94 is ahead of me (thank you) so I wonder, did you model the climates before creating this piece (and is there an accompanying climate map)?

Oh and I did put some thought into the climate, and at that time, I thought it is roughly what it could look like, but now I see there should probably be more deserts... Another thing that is off is the color of the plantlife, this world orbits an orange dwarf star (one "class" dimmer than the sun) and according to my research, the local plants would be in shades of brown and yellow, making better use of the aviable wavelengths, with dark-colored plants living in the undergrowth, especially the dark understory of the tropical forsets where there is really scarce light.

There is, the big axial tilt (30 degrees) causes quite harsh seasonal changes, especially in the polar regions, there are icecaps, but on the poles tilted away from the star, the pole tilted towards the star is covered in sea.
You see, the icecaps on earth are there because the north pole is in a small ocean largely enclosed by dry land and the south pole is on dry land, the cold land is prevents them from melting, but once you have oceanic polar regions and large ammount of relatively warm water reaching close to the polar regions (streaming under the icecap) in the summer season, the icecap always melts.
There are animals using both icecaps as shelter and breeding ground, but the animals will have to migrate great distances to reach dry land or return to th sea before the icecap melts. This also results in annual coastal floods in many regions. I haven't really focused on making polar animals for Colibri yet, but I want to do so soon. My starting pool of inspiration has dried out, so I'm looking for everything that might give me an idea. You can feel free to ask anything you want, it helps me to make up my mind about things, which is very important for me.

It's hard to tell, I had to come up with an alternative map-making process which took various failed attempts, but once I found a way that works for me, this final version could be done well within an hour.
