That is very impressive.
I am not familiar with the frog base. Relation of the bird base?

Ah! Thank you for the reminder - so I had seen it after all. Just never learned to use it since without dedicated origami paper, there didn't seem to be a lot that worked with it.

It is, but when I actively practiced origami I was eleven years old, so only had 90's printer paper and knockoff postits to work with. The legs were stiff as cardboard.

Yeah, that's around the age I started doing origami too. Printer paper is still an important resource for me though, it's good for doodles. It does get thick pretty quickly though, that's true.

These days mostly fold souvenirs for children: Traditional flapping birds with some extra folds on the head and wings to turn them into "dragons", and variations of Campbell Morris' flight-capable pterodactyl. There printer paper still does the trick.

Happy to hear you're still folding, I'm not familiar with that pterodactyl model, but I'll definitely check it out.

Do definitely recommend it. His mesozoic creatures may be somewhat simplistic, but they offer a lot of variety from bird bases - and they are quite economic from the position of parents who find their children taking up folding as a lot of them use full A4's, including the leftover strip from a square.
The pterodactyl has a tall neck as a vertical stabilizer, but it does not resemble the actual anatomy, so usually form the head and neck with two inward folds instead.
