Description
NOTE: This is a photograph of a rescued black bear cub. I was lucky enough to watch three of them roam around an enclosure (with plenty of space) at a place called "BEARIZONA". This was the first time the bears have been seen outside of their indoor home as they are only 10 weeks old. Bearizona is a wildlife park that has both a safari portion and a walk around portion. Many of the animals are rescued animals. The park is host to North American mammals and some birds of prey. Although not fully complete, the park will host grizzly bears, mountain lions, and much more wildlife later this year. It is an interesting place and worth a visit as some of the driving around is in natural habitat. After walking around seeing all the smaller mammals I kept coming back to the bear cubs. They were without a doubt the cutest things I have ever seen. This particular cub was the most active, climbing over the other cubs, play wrestling and practicing climbing. After snapping hundreds of images of the cubs, this bear came towards a large log and worked on trying to climb over it. The whole ordeal took around five minutes as the bear kept falling over and slipping. Finally, just as the bear seemed to get his grasp the little claws poked out and it's head and front paws were fully visible. After making it half way across the bear tumbled down the other side and went back to play wrestling with one of the other cubs. I felt like I had witnessed a great accomplishment, and I likely did as these cubs are fortunate to be alive. Those who know my stance on captive animals should be aware I always try to photograph truly wild animals, thus I will not be offering the image as a print for the time being nor putting it up on my website. This image is more to show the conservation efforts of the park and document them personally. I still wanted to share this with you all as bears are among my favorite animals, and it is not everyday you are able to spend quality time with cute little bear cubs.

Ten weeks out but look at those claws! That must have been quite the sight to watch the cub attempt to climb over the log. Wonderful capture

I've always wondered about Bearizona. Driven past it a couple of time.
I never know if I should stop at huge touristy parks, I usually stick to AZA zoos unless I've been told that they don't have a stock of animals for breeding just to bring in money.
May have to make this a visit in the future if I find myself in Arizona again.

The good thing is that this place wasn't crowded at all. When driving through the safari area you do get caught in bear jams, but that happens in places like yellowstone on a much smaller scale.

Cutest pic of a bear cub I've ever seen so far ^_^ The bit in the artist comments is very interesting, it's good to hear that people are still making an effort. Hope these little cubs do well.

Thank you! I hope these cubs are able to live a long and healthy life and eventually be returned to the wild.

Thank you! It is an interesting place especially for those who aren't fortunate to see these animals in the true wild. The animals are given plenty of space (mostly the drive through safari portion).
