Description I kissed the cold weather goodbye and welcomed the warm temperatures as they bring this beautiful scene to the desert. It's been quite some time since we have had a display of wildflowers as good as these, and this is just the beginning of the bloom. In a few short weeks, the hills will be blanketed in yellow as the mexican gold poppies and brittlebush dominate the landscape. I had scouted this area two days prior and was impressed then with the blooms. I came back and the flowers had tripled in numbers. I was amazed. To top it all off, some clouds rolled in for a brief moment just at sunset which added a nice contrasting blanket of color to the flowers. A perfect way to end a warm spring day.

Absolutely heavenly and gorgeous! (Still waiting for some real spring in this neck of the woods so I'm especially enjoying this image )

Thank you! Spring is short lived here, about a month long or so until summer temps.

I could live with that. Winter is too long here...Maybe spring will come tomorrow. It is snowing today but thankfully not sticking to the roads...

You will need a couple of warm days to follow the moisture, so hopefully that is in store for you soon.

At least we got some sunshine today...maybe warmth in a week or so?

It depends on your location as well. Lower elevations will likely bloom first, then come May and June the higher elevations begin to bloom.

Oh yeah - Arizona - I drove through there mid summer from New Mexico on the way to Southern California and was grateful my tires did not melt in the 113 degree temps.

Ha, that would be something if that happened. I usually travel at night if I'm going long distances. Cooler temps on the roads to keep my tires safe lol.
