I recently spent a few nights up on the North Rim of the grand canyon. It was a much needed getaway, and despite less than ideal conditions, I was able to come away with this single image from Point Imperial. There were lots of light shafts breaking through the clouds with a few brief sprinkles of rain, and even a rainbow emerged for a very brief moment.Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona.

That's a pretty long drive. But results are excellent, so i believe it would be refreshing for you rather than a tiring journey.
