Description
Here is my take on the supermoon, at least one of them. I went to set up at my location and waited for the moon to rise. Of course, because I didn't plan well ahead the moon didn't rise over my desired location. Instead, it had risen between the location I went to, and my backup location putting me in a scramble to put a comp together. I couldn't get anything decent to fill the foreground, so I waited out after the moon had risen and fired a few faint star images. There was still some ambient light in the sky which is why half the image is blue and the other is not so much. I then merged the two images together to create this scene here. The stars were shot at 17mm while the moon was shot at 400mm (for those who are going to look at the exif data and might have said wow that really was a big moon). It was a very large moon, and there were TONS of people and photographers scattered around trying to view this event. There was a meteor shower during the night, but I decided to head home while it was still early.Photographed near the four peaks in Arizona.

came out very nice ! - have you ever used the photographers ephemeris (TPE) google it- it's very helpful in situations like this - it's free or donation (?)
but it tracks sun/moon rise and sun/moon set throughout the day.

Thanks! I haven't used it before, but I keep telling myself to. I know as a phone app it's 4.99, just haven't shelled out the few dollars for it yet.

I have an old Cybershot WSC-200....decent for on the go and vlogging, but I'd love to upgrade to get better quality shots and HD footage.

Well, there's nothing wrong with upgrading. It's always fun learning everything all over again hah.
