Description
This is from a few weeks ago after revisiting the Kofa mountains. Arrived to clear skies and a hot sun that instantly gave me a good sunburn. Scouting for hours to find the perfect sunrise composition the following morning, I sorta realized something. I really don't scout the shots I am looking for. I just seem to stumble upon them, or they find me. On occasion, I stake my claim at a spot and hope that something happens. As day fell to night and sleeping in the back of my SUV uncomfortably because of the sunburn, I awoke in the early morning and got my buddy to wake up just in time. An hour or so until sunrise which gave some time to scout in the near dark navigating through teddy bear cholla and other vicious cacti. I never seem to have a problem with them, I just like to think they want a free ride to wherever I am going. Finally find a nice vantage (I think) and wait. Wait some more, and second guess if this is the right composition. I stay put, and keep firing away as the light begins to emerge and lights up the thin clouds above the peaks. Then the peaks begin to glow, then the sun shows itself. Ended up blending five exposures together here to get all the elements that I found interesting in the scene. I'll have to wait until next year to find my wildflowers here, but I am sure I will be back again in the near future to explore even more areas throughout the range.Kofa Mountains- Arizona

Thanks! No filters here though, just shoot at f16-f22 and make sure the sun is at the edge of a surface and you will get sunstars. Some lenses produce better sunstars than others though.

Some lenses produce better sunstars than others. Typically, the higher end (more expensive) lenses yield the cleanest results.
