Description
One of the most incredible places I have been. I think it even rivals some parts of the grand canyon, and that is saying a lot. As we waited for the sun to kiss that horizon I found myself shooting all the small rock formations behind me. Once the sun got to this point it seemed all the people had left leaving only a few photographer's trying to get their shot of the bend. My lens wasn't wide enough so I had to create this panoramic of 4 vertical images. I also had to pull back some saturation because that light was hitting so hard some of the rock was as red as a lobster. I also had to clean up some of the sun beams and took out a few blurred out flies (there were thousands in that area). To even get this angle my tripod was on the edge of the cliff scaring me half to death that I wouldn't knock it over. Sitting there with nothing holding me back was a thrill and was quite relaxing. This might have been the best photographic moment I have had thus far. A race against the light and getting everything just the way I wanted. Anyways, hope you enjoy!(edit- used different files for pano and changed the border. Let me know if you prefer the previous version better)

It's surprisingly difficult to photograph, unless you have a full frame camera and the widest lens available you cant get the entire thing in the frame. Which is why I had to create this pano. Luckily it worked out in the end

not many shots of this spot facing into the sun, good job on exposure control

The only way to get a great photo is to face the sun ha. Sunrise would be cleaner and no sky. That sun star is key! ha thanks though
