I'm down to 10 - 11 for the winter in southern CA. During the spring we have over 20 which isn't bad for OC. Little further out in the weeds and you're inundated with them. I love photographing them too. One got me a DD.

thank you...the hummingbirds by my house dont seem to be shy at all so im pretty lucky to be able to shoot them frequently

Some of mine can be social, but those roufus' tend to like to play annoying little games taking me a very long time to get shots of them. But in the end, it's worth it.
