Another wonderful take on a classic piece. This gladiator short sword looks too ornate and well made to even think about using in battle. The detail in the handle is inspiring and it would pain me to even scuff it. The blade itself appears to be fairly thick, with a deep blood groove like that, it would definitely add weight that would be lost with the small stature of this weapon. The angle of the bevels however would make a direct cut hard to pull off. This sword would be great for medium to close range combat with slashes and stabs. I could even see that pommel leaving quite the bruise. I have to say the only problem I have is with the circular ornament on the crossguard. I am unsure as to whether it goes through all the way or not but it seems it would create a weak point where it meets the hilt. I gave 4.5 for the vision because I cannot give a full five for a remake though the design is wonderful. Same with originality. The job does not appear to be as rushed as described and thus the technique is amazing. Overall, this left a great impact on me, definitely matching simplicity with decorum.

tnx you. just for wall. real swords needs grip as light as possible to concentrate weight in the upper part of blade. with weight layout as this sword has your could not hit target hard. It would be like you held hammer up side down....

I like the styling, similar to a roman gladius, a nice hefty one handed blade

Awesome mate. Have you considered having any of these made into model's?
Would you say that was a viking style or roman style design?

my first thought was 'gladio' too, though the blade seems relatively long, so maybe late Empire...

It's really nice, though the hilt seems a bit small. What's the scale?
