Description A knight is a person granted an honorary title of knighthood by a monarch or other political leader for service to the monarch or country, especially in a military capacity. Historically, in Europe, knighthood has been conferred upon mounted warriors. During the High Middle Ages, knighthood was considered a class of lower nobility. By the Late Middle Ages, the rank had become associated with the ideals of chivalry, a code of conduct for the perfect courtly Christian warrior.

Since the Early Modern period, the title of knight is purely honorific, usually bestowed by a monarch, as in the British honours system, often for non-military service to the country.

And what about if they still existed in original form. What they would look like? And what they would think about our times.

My concept is imaginary/sci-fi/fantasy idea of knight sword-TRISTAN in modern suit. Concept, modeling and rendering is mine. I did whole job in 3ds max, rendering engine is V-ray. Model is highpoly. Hope that dimensions are ok. Grip is oval and it is stretched at the end to hold hand at the place.

I did 2 picture:
1. Tristan - main - peterku.deviantart.com/art/Tri…
2. Tristan - secondary - peterku.deviantart.com/art/Tri…

Both pictures are big and details are quite visible when you open pictures in their original size.

So what do you think? Do you like it or not? Tnx for comments if any and bye.

lol mate. it always pleasure to read such a possitive comments . Few more and I grow up so much I wont fit my t-shirt .

This is one of those decorative. for real using has too much weight at the bottom. Real swords has to have gravity point higher to project force into blade.Β

haha, you are a great talented Artist with Humour! I like that

But it only depends on the material you use, doesn't it?
I mean.. of course you Need a sword which you can Balance, but in the case you use Titan for it, so a strong material with less weight for the blade and decorative objects, wouldn't it work then?
(sorry if this sounds stupid to you - i never dealed with swoerd before, so it was just a thought i had)

hi. tnx. Β not only material. When I started doing 3d swords I also know nearly nothing about them. but then I discovered few guys on youtube Β giving explanation about swords. for example why fantasy swords dont work:Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5rEm5…

but basically when you do real swords you want to have mass near to tip of blade and not in handle area. it is like you hold hammer. if you hold hammer correctly then you can hit targt pretty hard. but try to make same hammer force when you hold hammer in opposite direction. (I mean that head of hammer will be place in your hand. In this case all mass is in your hand and even you swing with the hammer. its handle wont beat hard....)

oh thanks for the link! I also watched his videos, but followed him only a few weeks ago so i haven't seenn that video! soo.. thanks a again.

You explained it very well. As you see, I am not into it, but It's logical how you explained it. I will keep this in mind when i design new weapons for my character tho. I want them to work also in the real world if they were real haha

Amazing sword Β

But as I read the description, there's something I hate about knighthood. Since I live in the U.K., famous people are the only ones being knighted which especially annoying because soldiers during the old times were knighted for their service to the king and queen but now people are being knighted for what? making people laugh? being famous? we have soldiers helping in Afgan and risked their lives and what do they get for doing something in service to the queen and for helping their comrades... a medal and a pat on the back. Yes a medal is a great honor but it's replaced the pride of knighthood. Just something that's been on my mind is all X3Β

If you actually read the Honours Lists, you'll discover (a) you've not heard of most of those honoured, because they are from the works of diplomacy, charity and public service rather than celebrity; (b) celebrities who are honoured often receive honours for public service and services to charity rather than for doing their jobs, and (c) every honours list will include members of our armed forces, emergency services and intelligence agencies - you just don't hear a lot about them in the Press because they aren't public figures.

But to also contemplate the temptation of wearing a futuristic knight suit and going outside with this sword.

The "No Touchy" beats the "Touchy" because I could not stand to damage this with even a scratch...

Therefore, I could never own this sword even if I had a million dollars...

For this sword is too awesome to be touched by my spindly geek hands...

Β Β  Visually, it is superb. I would beΒ interested in the specifications (materials, weight, balance, etc.) so as to truly "know" this sword although I have minimum knowledge regarding blades of this style and application. You mentioned that Knighthood is more or less an "honorary" title, especially so in modern history.Β I might suggest that a sword is rather symbolic as well. Many weapons, armor and battle techniques severely limit it's use in actual engagement. History shows that Royalty has provided a pathway to quasi-nobilityΒ for commoners through KnighthoodΒ but ultimately it seems to be in there own bestΒ interests militarily and in terms of public relations. ALL you work I reviewed is excellent.
