This deviation gives your Windows XP the look of Windows 8 Release Preview. The most similar Win 8 imitation you can find on the web.Instructions how to use in the file.

I'm not sure what you mean. I've downloaded the file myself and i had no probs. Try to unzip it with WinRAR. Works fine for me.

Navigate to Windows System 32. Look for a file called xpsp1res.dll. It's very easy to edit with reshacker.

Is there a way to get the enormous start orb and to show the normal start menu when clicking ?

I'm sure Rocketdock can do this. Only running Rocketdock for this little feature? Why don't you remove the orb in the VS? Simply erase the image and paint it with 1 per cent saturation after that.So you have the look of Win8 and a click on the invisible button opens the startmenu.I think this fat button is not so important.
I will test if MStartEX can do it.

You can use parts of this with Windows7.
SBar for taskbar and previews.
BorderSkin for the window borders
Styler for Ribbon explorer with limitations.
The better way to do this with Windows7 is a Visual Style.

OMG Why haven't i seen this? This is a conflict between BorderSkin and Styler toolbar. It sometimes happens while resizing the window.I think this is a programming bug, so i cannot solve it.Komalo isn't active on DA anymore.Hope he is fine.The situation in Egypt is potentialy dangerous.

This doesn't happen very often. So i think people can live with it. BS offers much more options than TT. All visible buttons are working. Not possible with TT because it allows no explorer skinning.

For some reason, SBAR refuses to load, LOL.
BTW: maybe you should let it get into packs, or, make a small batch for automatic install, a bit of a hassle, specially if you don't have the time (or privilieges) to replace some system files

Which version of SBar do you use? For me the only stable version is 1.041. I use it since years on different computers without any problems(except of some little bugs with Firefox).
You don't need to replace any system files to use this. Except of the xpsp1res.dll,which is only needed to show the winver info, which is pretty useless. Honestly who really uses this? It's more a kind of gag to make the job complete.

Well, I kinda was counting with the boot screen / login screen too.
And, I was using a newer build, the 1.6 ver I think

The bootscreen is no ntoskrnl.exe. It's a simple tbs. bootscreenfile for use with TuneUp utilities. The reason is that the ntoskrnl.exe is changed by almost each new Windows update. With this file you don't loose the bootscreen after updates.
About SBar: The skin is made for version 1.041 and isn't compatible with version 1.6. I can make it compatible for you, if you want to use it.
