Description A proof of concept model of purloined mobile command center, "The Winnebago" — looking far more pristine than it ever would in context — from the Shadowside project.  The specific idea behind this concept is that the vehicle is more an urban unit, perhaps intended for police use or VIP transport, rather than strictly a military APC.

Interior layout is a separate piece of in-progress concept development from the overall design, and technically outside the bounds of this project.

It is intentionally oversized, literally at the very edge of what would fit in standard width driving lane.  The reset is defined simply by its relative size, like any vehicle of this scale.

Won't that make it difficult to maneuver in an urban environment?

Its project specification is to be a behemoth, practically excessive.  It's questionable utility in regard to its ostensible intended function is a lamp-shaded detail.

All its wheels pivot, and it would technically be able to corner fairly tightly, turn around in its own length, and even move sideways, but it certainly would not be very street-friendly, crowding any vehicles that might share the road, and too big for some lanes.

In the narrative context of Shadowside, this never really has to coped with, however, being as the "Winnebago" is discovered, in an undelivered state, essentially still shrink-wrapped with the tags on, in its assembly bay in an abandoned facility, and will spend very little time thereafter in anything like an urban environment or even basic road traffic.

Thank you — it is really just a matter of form following function, which tends to produce clean design.

And a reminder that is has become too rare a commodity in contemporary sci-fi design.
