I just keep thinking about this one... but getting turned into a mermaid would really be a terrible thing. You couldn't move around on the land worth a crap; you'd be stuck in a wheelchair if you wanted to go anywhere.
Now sure if this were a fantasy world and you had a whole mermaid society underwater, it would be different. But in the real world you'd lose contact with most of the outside world.

Warning: the extra mass means that horses have way more alcohol tolerance than humans, and Chloe has that in addition to a bit of leftover human. The only reason there's room in that drawer for enough to get her buzzed is because its original contents have ceased to be useful to her.

If you've ever seen what a 'Disney Princess' has to put up with every day (there are plenty of YouTube vids from former princesses out there), unless whatever happened also stops aging, Lynne didn't necessarily get the better deal long-term.

I think cherub would be the more appropriate word. And this is a minor change compared to everything else. A case where one still has legs, which the snake girl and fish girl now lack, and moreover also has toes, which the horse girl also doesn't have anymore.
Imagine receiving a tail and losing your legs, and very likely being stuck in a wheelchair when not in water or having to wear dresses and skirts. And imagine having to do the latter as a man. No more trousers.
Do the comic and written story take deviation from one another? Or do they line up?

That has nothing to do with Day Two. Different universes, different storylines. Only surface similarity at best. You'll learn more about the backstory of this world as time goes on, but at a rate of four panels a week, it likely will take a while to get there.

Zia's sister, Angel, isn't dead. A prior comic strip revealed that Zia's family was extremely religious. Her parents basically told her that it was her fault for becoming a "demon spawn" and they were going to pray for her. Now just imagine how her parents would react to one of their kids turning into a living angel...
