Description

Not everyone has the same definition of "interesting," but I'm pretty sure nobody has Zia's definition...

If the Event happened more than a week ago, then how do you know the parrot wasn't growing out of his head?

Ask him how it happened...

but don't be surprised if the parrot says, "Well, it started out as a wart on my butt..." 7X=e

Some people like the simple things in life I guess.

The complex mental concentration of physics things versus seeing a guy with a parrot on his head. It’s understandable. *nods*

I...kinda have to agree with Zia here. A parrot in a store is much more interesting. And pretty!

Is that sci fi doubletalk or is that happening at Caltech?

Did he have it on his head or did he have one for it?  Did the parrot get stuck on his head and seemingly be attached?

I wondered what would happen then.  If the changes in question got in the way of one's work.  If one had the power to look normal or not be obviously called out as a monster.  But under the right circumstances could be exposed.

I thought of a man working in the grocer who stocked shelves and cleaned up.  He will take out trash, sweep floors, dust things, and wipe counters off, and mop when all else is done.  After an incident that expanded his lung capacity allowing him to hold his breath for fifteen minutes, even longer if he puts his mind to it, and thickened his tissue enough that he can now withstand crushing force that would make most humans implode upon themselves, he will do all of his duties except mopping.  He refuses to have an open bucket full of water anywhere near his legs, yet will do all of his other duties like normal.  If this were the case, do you think his coworkers would take long to figure out what happened and why he will not do that one particular chore?  Or would they figure it out at once?

Or a gorgon who happened to be a receptionist.  Now constantly has shades when in the presence of others, indoors and at work included, and will get angry if you try to remove them.  She accidentally killed a dozen cows and a couple of bulls by petrifying them.  Under no circumstance must they come off if she has the use super glue or hot glue.  And she generally wears wide brimmed straw hats or massive wigs but when she's not you could see there are live venomous snakes mounted on her scalp, and she advises people not to get too close when they aren't covered.

Things like that would make such changes more substantial.  They'd get in the way of one's livelihood or create real hardships more serious than the petty surface stuff.

You might be overthinking things; I suspect she meant something like this: www.123rf.com/photo_85369910_p…

I've got it.

I was wondering about others.  Gorgons. Merfolk. Gryphons. Satyrs. Sirens. A stray man with a rather large human male body from the neck downward, but has a bovine head like a bull.  Most of these wouldn't immediately betray that something was abnormal about them, but trying to function in this regular human world would be a constant struggle, and a threat to remove the guise.  Like the first two.

After being stuck in this closed compartment, this apartment that is the residency of our two protags, there is a natural desire to get out into the world and run into the public.  How the majority of the public most of whom are human take it.  How the desire to explore more of the world infiltrates the brain.  How I'd like to run into one of the above providing they aren't hostile. I wondered if you had any of them in mind.
