Yup.Today I went to a book signing for Nancy Yi Fan, 14-year-old author of Swordbird. To butter her up so that she'd read my story, I drew her a pic of my favorite character from her book, Aska.
Really though, Swordbird is awesome. And the prequel, Sword Quest, just came out!! GO GET THEM NOW FOOLZ!!!!
Yea...sooo...this'll probably be hanging on Nancy's wall :] I'm so proud...I actually went up to her and gave it to her..and she was stunned

[link] At the Yellow Book Road store, a reader named Mary brought me a picture she drew of Aska, the heroine of SWORDBIRD. Another reader brought her pet parrot, Kiwi to the store. Kiwi climbed on my arm! These are two unforgettable moments from the tour! ~ Nancy Yi Fan

Wow. Congrats. That is like, such an honor. I'd be so 0.0 if one of my favorite authors put my art on her website.
And this is such a beautiful piece! Even if I didn't like Swordbird that much. But I just read Sword Quest...
Let me say that Sword Quest was much better then the first one. My favorite character was Winger. He's so cute! And he writes awesome poetry.
And people who accuse Nancy of stealing ideas, let me conclude with this quote from John Christopher:
"Writers are borrowers and thieves."
Ever writer has written something that has an aspect similar to another story. It just... can't be avoided.
Anyways, this is a beautiful and detailed drawing! Just like I picture Aska!
