I really like it. A good replication of Da Vinci. What is the secret to drawing hands? I'm trying to learn how to draw them, and the shaping and proportions of the fingers always give me trouble... And how to make guy hands look like GUY hands.

Hands are real HARD to draw, You just have to practise. Take a large piece of paper and just fill it with hands in all different ways, spread fingers, clenched fist etc. Another thing that will help is to become familier with the bine structure of the hand. The Phalanges (finger bones) Metacarples (mainf hand bones from behind the knuckles) etc.
Tendons as well. If you hold your hand out flat, and slightly wriggle your fingers you can see the tendons moving under the skin.
Try drawing your own hand, holding the pencil that you're drawing with Sounds weird but give it a go. This gives you a good look at how fingers bend and how the skin creases. Take a look at this link. I drew my own hands for this. Admittedly it was a long time back and the photo quality is rubbish, but you'll see what I mean lol [link]
There's various ways you can tell gender from hands. Mens fingers tend to be slightly shorter and thicker, where as womens are more long and tapered. Same with the nails.Mens hands have more hair. and tend to be a bit veinier.
As for proportion try clenching your fist, now put it up yo you face (fingers facing you) and press it to your mouth. You'll generally find the the bottom of your hand near your wrist will be at your chin, the fingers will be just under your nose. Yes?
Now keeping your hand where it is, open your fingers out straight and you'll find they end half way up your forehead.
Good thing to know.
Hope this helps

For a rough sketch, it looks somehow really "smooth" (if you know what I mean).
What is white chalk pencil ? Is it a specific pencil or a regular pen could make do ?

Well it's as close the original as I could get it. It's not too far off.
Erm.... it's a pencil that has a very soft white pastel is it's core. Shows up very well on darker colour paper and is good for blending with graphite pencils.

Oh ok I should try that, it seems to be a frequent tool that gives a good leeway when it comes to shading.
