Not bad for my first attempt at drawing Harlock? It looks a bit stiff… and problems are starting to show themselves like maggots. OH WELL. It was great to finally get around to drawing him. I don’t do fanart often… but the Captain’s certainly worthy of it.Captain Harlock is awesome. I wish I could join his crew and sail the stars forever.

I feel like his arm is a bit awkward, but besides, that, nothing jumps out at me as looking weird or off. The cape is awesome... and I love that bird's wispy feathers! I've never heard of this character, though, and it seems like you like him quite a lot. You should tell me why he's so awesome. 8D Because I know you'd love to. XDD

Hmmmm... It's hard for me to express how COOL Harlock is, and how much I like him. I guess he's one of my role-models as a man? XD
The Wiki article says it better than I can: "Harlock is the archetypical romantic hero, a space pirate with an individualist philosophy of life. He is as noble as he is taciturn, rebellious, stoically fighting against totalitarian regimes, whether they be earthborn or alien. In his own words, he 'fight[s] for no one's sake... only for something deep in [his] heart'. He does not fear death."

Hmm! He sounds cool, indeed! Is there a manga with this guy out there? I'd be interested in reading it. (Unfortunately, I don't really get into animes anymore... but there's always time to sit down and read some good graphic novels. 8D)

The manga was done a long time ago. The translation wouldn't be very good and you'd probably have to look for it through an antique comics collector. Trust me. The movies and anime are literally much more accessible.

Definitely go with the original "Space Pirate Captain Harlock" (1978) or "The Endless Odyssey" (2000-something).

Thanks! I always wonder why Matsumoto didn't make Mr. Bird look cooler. Captain Harlock with a derpy bird as always seemed a little off to me. Or maybe it's just a good break in the stereotype of "coolness." Even a derpy bird can be cool? I dunno.

Your hair drawing skills have improved massivley, I commend you. The texture of the cape is really good, I like the cartoonyish style you got going on it fits well with this piece. Am I missing something? Is Harlock a popular TV show or something?

There have been a lot of different series with him in it... I recommend either "The Endless Odyssey" or the original "Space Pirate Captain Harlock" anime done in 1978 for starters...

I'd say the only thing that I can really see is belt loops seem to lack depth, almost like it's not displaced by the belt itself, but that's a very minor thing in the long run. Other than that I can't seem to find anything. XD
