Might any of you remember this: :thumb196162916: ? I had really wanted to make something worthy of Epic Mickey- and I was pleased with how Oswald and Ortensia came out, but the background continued to bother me IMMENSELY.So finally I went back and redid it. I put just as much effort into the background as I did those characters, and I am finally satisfied as a whole at how this came out. I really hope you can tell the difference. I didn't replace the original with this because I wanted to be able to compare them. 83
Working on the background really taught me that putting that much more effort into a drawing can really change how you feel about a piece.

Nice work! First off the background in my point of view looks very beautiful, the texture of the background has made it look very nice. The houses have been done perfectly and mix in perfectly.
The characters have been done beautifully, but I must say that you could have created a bit of contrast between the characters and the background, because here; even though the character are in front and comparatively large they don't seem to stick out of the background. You could also have added a bit more detail to the background.
Overall its a very beautiful digital painting on itself with a great color combination.

Thanks so much for the awesome review! I agree completely on the characters. With them being fairly simplistic, I should have done more to make them stand out and pop, especially since they're meant to be the focus!

I like it how you add definition and textures on the houses here. It really stands out in a good way and seeing your thumbs from a few years ago, I do see improvement indeed. Good effort.

Thank you! The textures on the houses were added in as an after-thought as well. I was never good at backgrounds, but an epiphany came to me that I ought to work just as hard on the background as I do the characters. This was the original: [link] It really lacks, in a terribly noticeable way! XD
