Emiri still felt the sting of her scolding as she arrived home. Kaya had worked the day shift so a hot meal of Emiri's favorite curry and soup was waiting for her. She fiddled with her utensils, lost in thought. Kaya peered at her, worried.
"You okay, sweetie?" she asked.
Emiri put her chopsticks down. "I screwed up today."
"Oh I almost forgot; you went on your first mission."
"Some mission, it was more of a training exercise and we all failed. Hell of a first mission." Emiri's tone was of defeat and she couldn't meet Kaya's eyes.
Kaya smiled empathetically. "Everyone messes up sometimes, Emiri. No one is perfect." When the girl still didn't look up, she gently reached out and raised her head. "Look, out in the real missions, people who mess up sometimes lose their lives or cost them their teammates' lives."
"And that's supposed to make me feel better?" Kaya shook her head, her kind eyes and smile making Emiri feel warm inside.
"These are training exercises for a reason. It so you don't mess up in the future. The Hokage knows what he's doing."
Emiri sighed, a light smile forming. "Thanks, Kaya," she said. She felt her appetite grow a little as she picked her chopsticks back up and started eating.
"So," said Kaya in a curious tone, "When are you and Iruka seeing each other again?"

So I've been wanting to do more comics and I've decided to start doing them for the chapters of my fanfic. I also haven't done a lot with Kaya so I kind of wanted to do some more things with her. For whatever reason, I'm doing Part 10, The Setting Sun. This first one is a little on the shorter side because it's the first and I'm still testing the waters. Enjoy!
