Phantom of the Ruhr 👻

This weary pilot has made it back once more from the heavily defended industrial heartland of the Ruhr area in world war two Germany. The mission was a tough one looking at his damaged flight goggles, probably caused by flak or a patrolling fighter plane.

The plane in the background a Lancaster was nick named the Phantom of the Ruhr it flew 121 missions during World War II.

RAF Bomber Command during the Second World War, had the highest rate of attrition of any Allied unit.
Their fight was long and very tough, hopefully this artwork is respectful to them and their memory.

This was originally a biro pen sketch but I recently decided to try colouring it and this is the result.
