I just delete my pics when I don't want them to be in my gallery anymore. I always get angry when I go through my favorites and see that sign. I always remove those marked deviations.

It's really due to personal reasons. You can put your work into storage by your will.

Well let say you fave someone's work, and due to personal reason, he decide to put it into storage. Instead of being invisible, your fave folder, stamp gallery or anywhere showing that artwork will become a storage picture while saying "deviation in storage". It will forever be there UNLESS the artist put it back so you can remove (unfave it) or the dA admin do something about it.
Putting deviation in storage is something personal, and I don't mind people do that, but why dA must put this provocative storage thingy instead of simply making artwork hidden?

at the same time, they don't show the name of the picture so you don't know what it is you can't view and decide if it's even worth keeping in your favs

I think it's ok if they keep the name hidden, but the best solution is to remove this storage sign so it won't stay there and tease us. =_=

I don't understand the people who freak out over storage. Yes, it sucks that that stupid safe icon shows up in your favourites, but that's the fault of the DA staff for not finding a better solution to hiding deviations, not the user's fault. Yeah, I guess they delete the image instead, but the storage feature exists for people who don't want to lose all their comments and favourites and conversations over what may be a very temporary measure.
I frankly hate the safe icon as much as anyone, but there's nothing wrong with the storage feature itself.

I think it's because of how people viewing the necessity of the storage thing. For example, some suggested that you should store your own file in thumbdrive or external hard disk instead of storing them into dA treating it like your personal storage, which takes up unnecessary space. The other thing I believe could be "it is the artist fault for storing their work instead of removing it thus leaving the stupid icon in my fave or stamps" thing, but this is pretty much ridiculous.
I don't think I have any of this storage icon within my fave or so, but it could be annoying to see that safe icon teasing us. Still, I don't freak out for people storing their things in dA though.

I totally understand the waste of space argument, but I tend to think that if that's an issue, DA shouldn't offer the service in the first place. I think the idea of hiding deviations temporarily is great in theory. It's not the image themselves people are afraid of losing I don't think, it's the comments and conversations that you can't reproduce. Or the views and faves.
I don't think you're necessarily freaking out, but lots of people are. I don't even disagree with most people, it's just that I was looking for anti-storage stamps, and none of them are blaming the staff for not fixing the problem.
I just wish we could take stored deviations out of our favorites.

You are right. There are things that cannot be reproduce or found once it is removed. I think this is not much of an issue at all if they didn't put the teasing icon in the first place, which eventually make people crazy about it.
I don't, but you might find some people arguing here but not really freaked out of the system, but that icon only. Still, it's really sad for seeing people blaming the innocent function.
Yeah...I just wonder why the staff haven't do anything in solving the problem yet.
