Description That's right. I've been slowly doing this for a while. No narration this time, but that saves me work, and that keeps this simple. Special guest appearance of a JuJi clone at the end.

MORE INFO

The AR-15 and AK-47 have very different mechanisms. The AR-15 is more complex and was known to be rather unreliable in the past. Modern variants are still used today, with much emphasis on customization and much improved reliability.
The AK on the other hand is much more simpler and can work even when thrown in dirt, water or mud. It is used in many countries around the world and is known as the "rebel" or "terrorist" weapon.

The very first known assault rifle was developed by the Nazis in WWII, known as the StG-44: [link] It was to combine the characteristics of submachine guns and full size rifles (known as using an "intermediate cartridge")

On the subject of supersonic bullets, rifles cannot be silenced when fitted with sound suppressors for this reason. Suppressors can still alter the sound and muzzle flash of the rifle.

I admit to not knowing near anything about guns, but I do know that the AK-47 that we all know is actually the AK-74 or something like that. If you see an actuall AK-47 the look almost look like an ugly Thompsan.

The AK-74 is merely the modernized version of the AK-47 but chambered for 5.45mm instead of the AK-47's 7.62mm. The main differences in appearance is the straighter magazine with a different color, and an added compensator.

The weapon YOU are thinking of is the prototype AK-46

So trust me when I say that the AK in this tutorial is the AK-47.

Ok. This is a cool tutorial by the way, but I miss the voice over. They were always hillarious.

I wish they'd issue us AK's in the army, but the Geneva convention always fucks us over with gayass firearm regs.

PhiTuS In reply to DukeMills [2010-04-16 21:10:16 +0000 UTC]

Wha? What are the regulations?

DukeMills In reply to PhiTuS [2010-04-23 01:13:23 +0000 UTC]

Ugh too many to go over.. sorry for the late reply, just got out the field. And yeah we have way too many gayass regulations on fighting wars.

It's the Geneva convention and United Nations, we aren't even allowed to fire even if weapons are loaded and aimed at us until they are already shooting at us

The AK bullet is "too large" and therefore "inhumane" to actually shoot someone with it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

shadow07203 In reply to HumaKaVoola [2010-05-13 20:43:08 +0000 UTC]

No. There is no such regulation, and the 7.62x39 mm bullet used in the AK-47 is not "too large". In fact it is smaller than the 7.62mm NATO round shown in this tutorial above (and the video is misleading, btw, since one could think that the round used by the AK-47 was much larger than the one used in the M16).

7.62 NATO (much larger than the 7.62mm Russian round) was, and is, used by the US military and many other armies worldwide. In the US military, it is currently used in the M14, M21, SCAR-H, M240 machinegun, and a few other weapons.

I took another look after I said what I had said, and caught my mistake. I do know the AK round is larger than the M16 round, since the M16's adoption over the AK's was the weight issue of carrying equivalent ammunition for both guns, M16 being considerably lighter.

I didn't realize NATO's 7.62 was larger, though it does make sense considering they use it for heavier roles than assault rifles.

PhiTuS In reply to HumaKaVoola [2010-04-19 03:05:20 +0000 UTC]

....what.

That doesn't make sense. They have military guns with even BIGGER bullets, don't they?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HumaKaVoola In reply to PhiTuS [2010-04-19 03:17:24 +0000 UTC]

They do! They're only for shooting VEHICLES. Officially. Off the record I'm sure more than a few "accidents" happen.

PhiTuS In reply to HumaKaVoola [2010-04-19 03:30:42 +0000 UTC]

You mean those .50 caliber rifles?

Don't they use those for super long range anti-personnel shooting too?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HumaKaVoola In reply to PhiTuS [2010-04-19 20:23:22 +0000 UTC]

I was referring to the Humvee mounted 50 cal.,and the Abrams 7.62 coaxial gun.

The Barret "light fifty" I know is used for anti personnel but also auto detonating bombs. The barret is given to special forces only as far as I know. My brother in law is an Army infantry sniper and he was issued a scoped M4.

Dedicated snipers are sometimes given the Barret, situation pending. Nato regulations restrict their usage on personnel...but the American military hasn't actually agreed to abide by those restrictions. Just like flame weapons, bombs or throwers, are banned, but America can still use them because they never agreed to abide by the regulations fully. I think the M-16 was more of a political catering act to make people happy rather than a smart choice....Of course the M-16's tumbling bullets are brutal.

Pretty sweet. I'm definitely not over interested in guns personally, but I do think they look kick-ass in animation. This was pretty helpful as I know a bit more about 'em now
