Description I've had this fractal waiting in the wings for a while, a similar one to Fire and Ice: [link]

When I changed the gradient and some other things, I thought of Atlantis and basically everything to do with that Ancient Greek era, water, etc. Thing was, I thought it could use one more thing, and that began my search for a good dirt or sand texture.

I found a great one: [link] from ~AsariStock , so I have to give a shout out to her.

Hope you like, enjoy!

P.S. Yes, I realize the sand is much more visible on the left than the right, that's because I didn't render as a transparent and had to lay the light beige color over the sand texture.

I am admiring that gorgeous texture. I love to see this kind of things with fractals!

You've brought a bit of early summer here, with this piece. I wish I could step on the sand, and into the water, and stay on the beach all day.
Not only the mosaic-like pattern reminds of Ancient Greece, but even the colours you used, and of course the concept, remind me af some greek island with white sand, turquoise waters and dazzling white houses on the hillside.

It's true that the contrast between the right and the left part of the sand texture it's big, but that adds to the feeling of damp sand on the spray zone of the left part. I'd say that, on the right, the difference becomes a bit to much just in the area around the spirals, due to the contrast with their darker blues. It could use a bit of desaturation there, but it's nice anyway, maybe more natural.

You make me want to do something with rich textures again!

stunnning! texture works great here, and the colors and forms are really fitting with the theme.. it's definitely reminiscent of the ancient greeks in a very pleasant way, so full points for that e.deviantart.com/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)" />

one thing that bugs me is the orientation though. although i know that the stained glass and wave forms are used quite often in a horizontal orientation, there's a good reason for it, and i think it fits better than the vertical orientation you have here. i keep wanting to tilt my head sideways to view this and that is easily fixed by rotating the frame 90 degrees counterclockwise e.deviantart.com/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)" /> other than that, i think it's absolutely perfect e.deviantart.com/emoticons/t/t… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title="Thumbs Up" />

don't like it too much in full size due to the texture, however in 900x700 or something it looks great. Also i just went to greece and i can definitely agree that it reminds of it

A smaller version would be better, I agree, I just don't know how the masses would respond to a small image, since all of my others are desktop size.

Thanks for the feedback.

that works for me - yes the ideas of merging apo with some textures is really nice

First try with it, it's certainly possible, I just need to render as a transparent and try different blending options. I'm wondering what else I can do in this style, cave paintings, space forms, etc.

well you can do soo many things have you tried running
a ps filters thru the fractal ...now those are fun
and yeahh you can have soo many textures

I have this thing where I can't manipulate a fractal like that. The most I'll do is a fractal collage of sorts, but I haven't tried one in a very long time. I still like the idea of textural backgrounds though, saw a nice one in *greyfin 's gallery today.

Yeahh Im becoming interesting in manips myself I even went as far,
as making a stock folder ...well I bet my manips will have
fractals in them, since I have my own vast supply.
greyfin has some cool ideas for sure and so does aspartam and few others
