Description
UPDATE: I said I was going to leave this painting alone...but I lied. I used my new found trick to smooth out the light effect in the restraints. I also added him closing his eyes! I'm so proud. He only does it once a cycle, so he only closes his eyes every other head dip. Enjoy this extra two hours of work! This is my last work up on this painting for a while. I tried to add sweat...but it was really creepy...so was the blood. So I just changed the sync of the head and breath. So enjoy this!
Working hard on my 'living picture' skills. I kept the other animation of Spock up cause I liked how subtle it was. I learned how to use a 'switch layer' to add some glow affect to the restraints. I may add animated sweat and blood (if I do I'll just update this one). I also changed the head motion to try and keep it from moving exactly like the breathing chest.
Anyway, Spock of Star Trek during a scene in my novel Treason.
Enjoy!!
Thanks to for pointing this animation program out out to me!

Well it is like 20 chapters into my second book 'Treason', starts with 'Exile'. If you just want the chapter I can hunt it down.

I'm sure I can hunt it down...it might not make much sense though being in the middle of a story.

This style of animation is so cool. I love how painterly it is, and the motion is really beautiful.

Thank you! It uses a program called Anime Studio and it physically warps different layers of the drawing to form a smooth motion.

Wonderful! What program did you use exactly to draw and which to make the animations?

I used Paintshop pro elements to draw and then Anime Studio 6 to animate where you have 'bones' in the drawing on layers so you don't animate frame by frame, but rather by warping the image.

Thanks! I used a program called Studio Anime that has bones, so I have the moving parts on layers and then connect the bones and they stretch and warp the painting.

No probs! You strike me as a perfectionist like myself. Spend hours and hours getting it just right...and then you tweak it just a bit more and then again! Fantastic.

Heyyy!! It's me again!
I got anime studio pro 7 I like it. Animation is coming along nicely! But... I'm struggling to import my drawings INTO anime studio. What file type should it be? Can you help me? Thank you so much! xx

Hmmmmm....I remember now. I had to make each layer into a clear gif and import them on top of one another to create the layers.

LOVE! I'm so glad I found this. I've read your stuff on ff.net a while back (sailor vulcan) and rl took over and I haven't kept up, sorry! This is fantastic and sexy shiny. I totally wish I had a way to learn to paint digitally, I love the depth and subtle roughness of your paintings. Best DA random find of the month

I used Anime Studio 6, it's only like 50$. You need to do your drawings on layers to make the 'bones' feature work. It is easy to use after a bit of a learning curve. I'm glad you like!

Thank you!! I am not drawing these animations frame by frame which is the traditional way (well, a few things in here are frame by frame, like the eyelid) I'm using a program called Anime Studio which allows you to attach transparent png files to 'bones' and warps them. It still takes a lot of time, but it makes for nice smooth motion.

I'm slowly working on perfection with this one. Next up I've been informed that the shoulders and arms should have a little motion to them with the breathing, and I still think I might try the sweat thing again. I had SO much fun with the eyes.

TheGreatUndefeatable In reply to Phoenix-Cry [2010-04-11 01:35:02 +0000 UTC]
That's cool! Yeah, thinking about it now it'd look a touch better if the shoulders and arms were going. Maybe the hands, too x3
But the EYES are awesome! The way that he's blinking looks like he's just absolutely exhausted.

Yup, I'm going to mess around with it a little more to move the shoulders. I'm so pleased that the eye blink makes him look exhausted because that's exactly what I was going for. I wanted this to have a sense of true weariness.
