UPDATE: I found a much better mov to swf converter and now you can see this animation in all its glory! You may have to click on him to get him moving...but look closely before you decide if he's alive or not...
I am starting to dabble in 'living pictures' a form of animation that uses bones and warping, and a serious amount of time (steep learning curve).
So here is my second attempt at the animation thing.
Spock from my novel Treason slowly breathing. Don't even ask how long it took to get him to breath. I think I could have created a real new life from scratch in the time it took to get him to do this really simple animation. I'm hoping to figure out how to do other motion effects (like the restraint lights with a strobe effect), but that will be for another day!
Enjoy!

Serious mind games.
I was staring at it going to myself "it's moving, it's moving...."
but I felt like I could only see it out of the corner of my eye...
I downloaded it and realised it moved a lot more than I was imagining - which is making me question everything.
This is fantastic by the way! The animation is very smooth, and you have a lot of patience to animate something that complex, I'm very impressed!

Thanks! I love playing mind games. The animation is smooth because I used a program that has "bones" that you connect the drawing to in various layers and it 'warps' the image according to the strenth and motion of the bones. It still took forever, but I didn't have to redraw every frame,
I made one with moving lights just for fun as well [link]

I like it much better now that the hand isn't moving. Makes it much more subtle, more realistic. ^_^
Well done!

Thanks! I'm doing one right now where he keeps his head down for a full breath and there is motion to the light restraints. I'll upload it as a different deviation for those who like this really subtle one (like me).

I have to say, I really REALLY like it. The motion is just subtle, and the real-time is amazing. You're sure this is your first animation...?
I admit, I was also extremely curious to see what the first thing you'd animate was
But yes! ! If you WANT a tip, I'll give it to you, otherwise I'll keep my mouth shut and just admire it x3

This is actually my second animation with this software, the Drake was my first animation, it's in my gallery somewhere.
A tip would be just fine, I'm always looking to improve and if I like your tip I'll run with it, and if not I'll ignore!

Haha, good words to live by
I was watching the way he breathed, I think if his head moved...not quite contrary to the body, but seemed to lag behind a few seconds, it might look good.
IDK, I don't animate, just a thought

The learning curve I'm having trouble with is how to not have one motion effect the other motion...so I kinda tried that...for three hours...before giving in. I think I need to read the manual.

Thanks! I'm working on a version that will have a little hand motion in it as well. I think the main thing is the learning curve and the mistakes with brand new software. I get obessed about this kind of thing.
