Thanks for the fave. Unlike a lot of people, I quite like the light and airy effect you can get with a white card and a little overexposure....The shot...not me.

I love tulips too. They are the precursor of Spring. Tell you the truth. I am a pro gardener, and all my gardens are about a month ahead. Good news for me, but not the planet.

Wow this is also awesome .... you've managed to keep it soft while still displaying all the texture in the petals!!!

photonig In reply to tamester [2007-01-09 19:54:40 +0000 UTC]
I overexposed a bit, then lightened it in 'Levels'. If you use 'curves' after this you can usually keep the detail. Thanks for the comment.

Ooooo la la, a nice feminine side of you showing.
The colours are very pretty. I like the gradient colours of greens behind the pink tulip. The effect is soft as the white background seems to take away the intensity of the pink flower, it's a neat effect.
The shadow under the flower has a slight purpley, blue tone which I like!
Good job

Thanks...and I am all man!!!!!!
I wanted to get a soft feel to the shot so I overexposed in camera and lifted the levels. I tried to soften the colour of the flower and I muted the shadow under the flower with a white card reflector. Which also gave a hue to the shadow. Glad you like it. Surprised you can see it through that bloody hood! Do you go round mugging old ladies?

I love my hood!

Very sugary submission from you Nigel - I do like it honest, though I'd like to see a thin black outside edge to it but that's just me - it's yours after all is said and done

You are right. I think a black edge would have worked better. But then I am on the second glass of 'Glen Moray' single malt that a customer bought me for Christmas......Smooth with a capital Sssssssssssssssssssssssssss.

I like this a lot, it's quite different from your usual style. Great detail and focus, and also really nice choice of background. That little blue hazy bit near your name in the top left is a genius touch, seems to add a teeny hint of extra color to the overall 'feel' that makes it perfect.

ok, so do you have a light board or how did you get the white background this time?

Thanks for the fave on....something else.
Light board!!! Do you think I am made of money??
It is just on a piece of A4 paper by a window, and I held another piece as a reflector to lessen the shadows. The rest was done with a tweak in Levels in PS7.
