Description
Animation: 40 secondsSome flashing lights
This is a little proof-o-concept and the follow-on to an earlier test. This is pretty severely compressed - but you'll get the idea.
This was ready to render a while back, but there've been any numbers of set backs, including a small fire caused by the render farm (!) - all is fine though.
Progress is being made on many fronts - should know more in a week or so how / if this is going to turn out.

I swear if he had eyebrows, he'd have waggled them there at the end.

Well - he does smile at you - sort of.
A little too soon to tell, hopefully you won't have to wait too long to find out.

"Dark Star II" ...Love it, especially with "Alert" flashing red.
One thing I did find a tad disconcerting was the "pure silence" in between bars (thought it was my sound card at first)
Suppose it would be tantamount to a crime suggesting "white noise" to a sound maestro such as yourself

Ha - I seem to recall Dark Star... don't think I've ever seen it. No worries about the silence - the sound track is going to be very busy. The challenge will be to keep things intelligible - much like the visual challenge when everything comes together. No more "Alert" - what text there will be will be in Alien language. Or technically, English in an alien typeface.
Hey - if white noise was good enough for George Harrison (and I believe George Martin might have been involved) - I'm not too proud. But more likely, some broadband types of sounds - and a few recognizable ones. And heart "beeps" - and well - lots. Should be fun.
i shall need to look for Dark Star... even if I have seen it - I'm way past due.

Heh. Pretty good and I had to laugh when you slipped a minor key version of "shave and a haircut... two bits!" in there. I think the concept is proved.

Yeah - I had to look it up - there are a couple of versions of shave and a haircut... plus, there's a bit of trick. The individual notes are 1/3 of a semi-tone apart. So with 4 x 9 buttons, there are 36 1/3 semitones - or just slightly less than an octave. The middle row on each key pad are "real" notes. When he hits that last chord - it's quite a bit sharp. I kinda want to play this for our conductor - just to see the look on his face when he hears that.
Glad it made you laugh - that was the plan!
Thanks!
