This is really irritating. I DL'ed and realized it WAS essentially an advertisement. I would love this Rainmeter skin, but instead I'm here complaining about this load of crap.

Would you please stop posting xWidget here, it belongs in /windows utilities/applications.
Also, please don't advertise xWidget here... "xWidget is a clone of Rainmeter, but with Visual Skin Editor and Full support of javascript and animations, far more easy to use."

It is in fact an advertisement; you are trying to sell it to people who view this post, saying basically that it is "better than Rainmeter in every way." And you're advertising it IN a section devoted to solely Rainmeter. How would you like me advertising Rainmeter in a xWidget section? It's just not something you do...

The truth is: My friends like my work, and dA not makes a xWidget category(The xWidget author "Tony" had request one many days but no Reply) , So I post my work into this category seems to be most fits for now.
When dA makes a xWidget category,I will can not wait to leave this category that will not be popular soon.

Because xWidget sucks ha, just kidding, I've never used it and never will.
This category does not seem best fit, this is RAINMETER, only RAINMETER belongs in RAINMETER. And Rainmeter will not lose popularity for some shitty imitation, Rainmeter is, and always will be, the best at what it does - that is, what it's meant to do.

Before I uses xWidget,I was thinking like you naive,This only proves that your arrogant.
No one can last forever,We can only keep up.
My last word: Rainmeter is a "Dos OS", and xWidget is a "Windows OS", use it or not, as you wish, It's none of my business,I just do the things I like . Thanks.

xWidget is simply more user friendly, with all the bells and whistles. That does not make it better.

xWidget not only more user friendly,it support javascript/vbscript,you can write code to do anything freely.
For Example: xWidget's note widget can drag&drop right-bottom corner to resize, RM's note skin can not.
look this one: [link]
RM has only INI file and simple bing cmd,There are too many restrictions, if you want make a config UI,you even to uses EXE to help, EXE file is Dangerous and not safe.

This seems like a good job, but jbainbrid is right, this is not the correct category.
I recommend you (and to all who are posting Xwidgets) add "[Xwidgets]" before the widget title (until it exists the correct category). This will prevent: - those whom are looking for Rainmeter skins see these deviations, - and it begins a chain of posts like this.

jbainbrid In reply to pigboat [2011-12-09 04:55:09 +0000 UTC]
Everything you're describing just makes it more user friendly, it doesn't change how it performs. Rainmeter is not made to perform these actions (such as resizing the window), therefore, sure, xWidget is better in that regard, but that's all just to make it more appealing, it doesn't change performance.
P.S., Rainmeter also supports LUA.
And .exe is hardly dangerous if you get it from a trusted source, and in the right hands, can be very useful. You just can't trust random uploads (as if you should have to tell anyone that).

If you're going for user friendliness, yes. You've just fallen into their trap. Just because it looks like it's so great doesn't mean it performs so much better. And honestly, I hate the look of it - it looks too much like an application rather than just something on the desktop, much like windows gadgets (and no, it's not just certain skins that look like that, they all do).

xWidget is more powerful and easy to uses, this is one of the Evidence:
xWidget "USB Disk" skins can Right click to "Eject USB device", Is Rainmeter can do this?

.... What we most want? We Just need a tool to let us Focus on the out skin and achieve our idea. xWidget dose.
xWidget not only friendly to user, it has a powerful and easy to uses Visual Skin editor,We no longer waste time on Places controls position with Notepad and INI file. We just need drag&drop controls to place anywhere position with our mouse freely.
If you hate the look of it,you can make skin with yourself. For us,The most powerful fo xWidget is that it has a very nice editor ,we can do whatever skins/widgets we want as our wish.

My point was that they ALL look like shit. You CAN'T make it look good. And I HATE visual editors for something like this. I'd rather learn how to make it myself. I don't like user friendliness. I want to know how it's actually done, not through some other program.

pigboat In reply to jbainbrid [2011-12-10 03:12:36 +0000 UTC]
Widget's look decided by the skin author,If you are shit, your skin also shit. And this is just only yourself point. for example: This on is same look with Rainmeter,Is it shit? [link]
xWidget's skin editor is a good choice, but not must choice it. You can uses notepad edit the xWidget skin's "Main.xul" file like you edit Rainmeter's INI file.

jbainbrid In reply to pigboat [2011-12-10 03:27:36 +0000 UTC]
That's the only skin that is half decent, and guess what? you just stole it from a different author that uses Rainmeter. I looked through every skin in xWidget and they resemble to closely the look of windows Gadgets, which is what I DON'T want. Also, it is funny .xul is what xWidget uses... it's not even meant to be used like that... it's a web-based interface design language, which I am in no way interested in web design.
I am not a web designer, I am a programmer.

Stole it ? there must be something "wrong" with you! Clean your mouth and shutdown! I had asked the author "666ANIME" and be allowed to port it to xwidget!!! You can see from here [link]

XML is a web design language? Are you really a programmer?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
jbainbrid In reply to pigboat [2011-12-10 05:32:11 +0000 UTC]
XML is a basic interface design language. XUL (what I said)is it's own XML that is meant for web use, it was even made by Mozilla.

pigboat In reply to jbainbrid [2011-12-10 06:02:38 +0000 UTC]
xwidget's Main.XUL not the same from Mozilla. Do you really read the xul code ? It is a simple XML.
