Description
I started etch a sketching a few days ago and this is what happened. I've always been interested in fantasy-oriented environments, and decided to invent a quasi-aquatic prehistoric kind of scenery. I estimate this took about 3 hours.No references were used, and no sketching or conceptualizing was done beforehand. I started with one thing and kept building upon it until I felt it was complete.
EDIT (7-28-12): I'm so thankful for being awarded a daily deviation for this piece. It was a labor of love, and my favorite thing I've done all summer.
EDIT 2 (4-14-20): I updated the main file with a better quality photo!

This is exactly like something my late Uncle Bill would have done. He worked with computer games, and his art was very similar to this. He passed away early this year, but thank you for reminding me of him. Here's something he painted: [link]

:shock: I wouldn't have have thought it possible....now there is some truly masterful Etch-a-Sketching. Incredible...and awesome scene, too. It'd be impressive and interesting even if it were just hand-drawn on paper, like a book illustration. ^^

Also, it's brilliant that you take photos of all your masterpieces...imagine if some horrible person came along and shook it clear again before you were able to preserve it forever...*shudder* LOL! xD;

This is so incredibly amazing -- not only in your artwork, but in the fact that it wasn't planned out beforehand. You have skill and talent.

thank you very much. I love planning out intricate designs, but sometimes I think it's just good to put pen to paper (or for an etch a sketch, dial to screen) and just have a blind go at it, and see where the line takes you.

I'm a pretty fast etch a sketcher, so usually it takes a lot for me to put 3 hours into a piece.
