I learned about Mario by playing Super Mario 1-3 on the NES when I was 4. I still play it on my NES.I love Mario. The franchise has always brought me such happiness as a child, and given me countless hours of entertainment. To this day I am still a nintendoholic.
I felt like I was overdue for a proper tribute to this wonderful video gaming icon.
Done on a pocket etchasketch, took roughly 1 hour. My attempt at making it completely centered failed...ah well.

This is an amazing effort. Some people have used Etch-a-Sketches to design cars in the past, which accounts for the extraordinary squareness of those models, but this is a far better use for one.

Well, they most likely weren't, it's just that some cars seem so boxy that it appears they were designed that way.

Well, I must say you are one of the few to actually critique my pieces. This is all I have to say to this: I used a piece for reference that had his smile, and I did not want to include it. I find that the way I drew his cheeks is more characteristic of the older versions of illustrations of him done more so in the mid to late 80s and early 90s.
Never played SMG2, because I do not own a wii. =/

I just really like giving minor critiques. I always felt that if there's something distinctly wrong with a person's work, and they do want to improve, saying "it's great" instead of actually saying what's wrong with it is just... not a nice thing to do.
I don't do it to you much because you (normally) really don't have any distinctive problems with your drawings (if you could call them that).
And... yeah, I suppose it does look a lot more like the Super Mario Bros' Super Show style. I wouldn't really call that a good thing, but to each their own.
