Description

"HEY! WHY ARE YOU TWO STILL ASLEEP?! GET UP!" A voice shouted, but also echoing. "I'm MIKE, your wake up caller! You TWO need to get UP!"

My gosh! What is that!? Sparkle couldn't really move, the noise seem to paralyze her. My ears are ringing. And they seem to hurt.

"If you're LATE," the voice continued, "the Guildmaster WILL NOT be happy. And I don't want him ANGERY. It's too SCARY to mention. NOW GET UP!! ROOKIES!"

Sparkle sluggishly got up. Ugh, that really hurts. She looked at Isaac who was already up, but looked sluggish as well from that call. He seemed to be talking, but Sparkle couldn't hear him.

"What?" Sparkle asked.

Sparkle saw Isaac's mouth moving, but nothing seemed to be heard. Oh my gosh! I can't hear! Sparkle's ears were still ringing from that wake up call and she shook her head, trying to make the ringing stop.

"Sparkle?" Isaac asked, but she didn't seem to hear, she was shaking her head rapidly. "Sparkle! What's wrong?!"

"I CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING!" Sparkle shouted fearfully all of a sudden.

"Oh my- Hold on!" Isaac got up quickly running out of the room, and walked into the room where everyone was standing and waiting for something.

"You're LATE, rookies!" Mike shouted from across the room, next to a Bidoof and a Diglett.

"Quiet!" Olan snapped at Mike. "I see that you're up, but where's your friend?" Olan asked. "You need to get her up."

"She is!" Isaac told him. "But she can't hear anything!"

Olan jumped up and flapped his wings with shock. "What?"

"What?!" Everyone else shouted with concern.

"I don't know what happened." Isaac said, "She just shouted she couldn't hear anything, you have to help her. We can't do anything if you can't hear."

"That's very true. I'll be right there." Olan looked at the other group of Pokémon. "Stay here, and tell Guildmaster, if he comes out, I'll be there momentarily."

Sparkle held her pillow over her head, the ringing had quiet down, but she could still hear it. Then she heard muffling. She perked up and saw Isaac with Olan.

She could hear them talking, but she couldn't make out what they were saying. Her heart began racing with fear. What if I can't hear ever again?! I was hearing fine just a moment ago. How'd I stop hearing? I mean, I heard Mike shouting to wake up, but then again my ears were ringing the entire time.....Maybe his shouting or echoing made my ears ring! Just then she felt Olan looking in her ears and mumbled something, but this time Sparkle caught it.

"I don't see anything wrong. When did this start happening." Sparkle could barely catch it, but she heard it faintly.

"I don't know. She was fine last night." Isaac said.

"Sparkle." Olan shouted and Sparkle looked at him. "Can you hear me?"

"Yes," Sparkle said, a bit too loudly, but she didn't realize it herself, "but only faintly. Speak up a bit!"

"What happened?!" Olan asked.

"I don't know, I heard Mike shouting at us to get up, but my ears have been ringing since then!"

"Ah I see." Olan looked relieved.

"What it is?" Isaac asked quickly, he looked very concern.

"It seems Mike has been over doing it again." Olan explained. "Well, either that he needs to lower his voice a bit when waking you two up. I'll make sure to tell him to be careful from now on. But another reason is that Pikachu's hearing a bit more sensitive than normal Pokémon. So they hear things more than average. So Mike's wakeup call might have caused a slight malfunction, but only temporarily. Her hearing shout be back to normal very soon."

"The ringing is going away." Sparkle spoke finally, her voice lowering.

"Good!" Olan looked happy. "Now come with me on the Boards Floor just above. For your first assignment."

Olan walked out with Isaac following, Sparkle followed as well.

Olan looked over the board after explaining about Mystery Dungeons a few times so Sparkle could understand. Sparkle felt a bit embarrass after that. She looked at the ground, rubbing her right arm with her left paw. Isaac, that was right beside her, leaned in to her.

"Are you ok?" Isaac asked.

Sparkle could hear more clearly now, and the ringing finally stopped and she nodded slowly. She didn't feel like talking. So she stayed silent.

"Well, don't be upset, it wasn't your fault." Isaac assured her. "Mike should have been more careful. Let's just focus on passing our first exciting mission."

Sparkle looked at him, he was smiling at her, which made her smile and she nodded.

"Ah here we go, this should be easy for a first try." Olan grabbed a paper from the Mission Board and took it to them.

It said that a Spoink, named Pat, lost his pearl in a dungeon called Drenched Bluff. He said he couldn't do it himself because he heard that the dungeon was very dangerous.

"Wait...." Sparkle could tell Isaac's excitement faded. "Our first mission is to find an item a Pokémon lost?! That's so lame. I want to go on adventures and find treasure not retrieve items!"

"Hush!" Olan snapped. "This is your assignments. You're just rookies and don't know the true dangers out there. You know that the flow of time has been messed and a lot bad Pokémon has been appearing lately and you guys should have as much experience as you can to survive!"

"Sheesh, ok." Isaac rolled his eyes, but yet understood.

Sparkle was a bit confused. Flow of time getting messed up? Does he mean as in hours and minutes? Do they mean something has gone wrong with time here? And because of that, more and more bad Pokémon are appearing. I'm not sure what’s really going on here. It's strange...

"Well, Sparkle, let's go." Isaac sighed. "We should do our best with this mission."

"Yeah." Sparkle agreed.

Both of them head off out of the Guild and headed towards Drenched Bluff.
