Thank you my friend !!
You're the first one who really reacted in such a beautiful way with this painting that takes a special place among my works (it's one of my oldest works )

Couldn't be less... the image still moves something inside me... I look at it usually, when I feel sort of down, it's like a mirror, dunno

When i painted it i was undergoing a sad period of my life (and i was still a beginner when i painted it but i managed to do it well)
I'm pleased that they mentioned the "double Space" in the comment because i composed it on purpose like this (and this is a Classical way used a lot by the Venitian Painting Masters and also the Florentines)

I can relate to that... and I can also see your feelings in the painting. It's so clear yet so enigmatic at the same time, you now the beginning of the story but not the end, it is an enigma that can only be translated in the viewer's mind, it's like a movie... so much but so less going on at the same time

Piktus In reply to Aegis-Illustration [2007-09-06 07:43:51 +0000 UTC]

Absolutely !!
Our whole existence is an enigma .
If we take seven degrees of existence going from the Mineral to GOD all mighty , we are between the 4 (animal) and the 5 (angel )
So you can imagine the bridge that we must make to cross over the dangerous darkness and fulfill our Humanity in all it's beauty.

For some reason this painting is about Hope. There is a tremendous amount of pain that is expressed in the woman and the landscape, the red of the mountains perhaps bringing me to this conclusion. It is the setting sun, the end of the day and the hope that tomorrow will bring something good, something better ... Hope helps us hold on and each new day is a new chance ..

Passionate work as always my friend. Cheers, Gerhardt

Piktus In reply to gerhardt [2007-05-01 22:32:34 +0000 UTC]

Absolutely my friend !!
For ancient Egyptians , "NUT" the sky Goddess was represented as a curved woman who swallows the sun in the evening , and give it birth in the morning as a new born child ( Khefri).
Hope!! It's what keeps us alive my friend .
