More sketchwork of my Cap'n N doujinshi! This time featuring the designs I have for Pit and Samus Aran.Samus' design was borrowed a bit from a character in Lucky Star (I can't recall her name, but she's the tall one with green hair).
Pit's outfit here is largely based on his SSBBrawl suit, although I'm sure I changed some of it... entirely on accident. XP Truth be told, I was trying to base it entirely on the Brawl costume, but I'm sure I may have missed a few things and added things that weren't supposed to be there. Either way, I tried to draw him in such a way that it would be easy to draw him repeatedly and quickly, and he turned out interestingly enough.
And Samus' casual wear. What, did you really think they always wear the same outfit every DAY? Pit has, like, seven different togas. Anyway, I've always wondered how she'd look in normal clothes, and here is our answer.
I've always considered Samus and Pit to have an almost brother-sister relationship because they were both created by Gunpei Yokoi, so that's how they relate to each other. ^_^ I really like how, when you compare their eyes, Samus's seem dark and thoughtful, but Pit's are bright and cheery.

That subtle manga style of shading really really works well with these and you've done a killer job with their designs too. I think what's all the more impressive is Pit's style, it's so different than your -usual- it gives us a little more insight to your range of skill. Keep wowing us!

Samus Aran was only in the comic books, and to be fair, they did not portray her personality that well, but at the same time, they handled her character the best they could--especially considering that most of America still thought she was a man in a spacesuit, or a robot.

Nice. Samus is well-detailed, and you did a good job with both her battle suit and her "off-duty" clothes. I like the expression on her face.
Pit seems to be a composite of several different Pits. I like the new color. Now, he seems to have a cross between the Beatles haircut (Myths and Monsters) and the spiked hair (Brawl), yet it's colored like in Kid Icarus 1/The original Captain N. Similarly, his garment seems slightly inspired by the in-game depiction (and Captain N depiction), except now he also has some new things like a belt...oh, and the visible bicycle shorts from Brawl (the only element I don't quite like, but that's only my opinion). Anyways, cool designs.

Well, it was either bycicle shorts, or I'd have to draw him so that everyone could see his penis, and there's just no place for nudity in Captain N. :/

Well, it's just I sometimes think they're too obvious...maybe the 3-D....but I'm not expecting that he'd be showing everyone his Chuck Berry (using that term because of a song that singer is infamous for!) Maybe the Brawl version should have had a different kind of robe, tunic or chiton that didn't "open" as much or something. Or worn either a loincloth or briefs or something as an undergarment, just the bike shorts seems odd (then again, it seems to be popular in a few Japanese animes). Anyways, it's but a minor nitpick. Because....PIT IS COOL! I actually came up with strange ideas for games with Pit in him before Pit "returned" to Brawl. Oh, apparently he was supposed to be in Smash Brothers 1, but they replaced him with Jiggly Puff at the last minute.

The reason why, I think, is because, much as Pikachu has become a symbol of Pokemon in North America, Jigglypuff, or "Puuriyin", is a well known and loved Pokemon in Japan. At least that's what I read a few months ago.
Anyways, it's cool Pit is back. And how do you invision the "Pit" in your version of Captain N being, personality-wise? *Curious*

At first, it revealed that he has amnesia. ("Wow, who saw that coming?" quips Kevin.) Since he does not remember who he is, Pit decides to start anew and grows into an entirely different character than his "everyman" personality. He is more of a prankster now, and cracks jokes when he feels people need to laugh. Think of him as your best friend from high school: he's not very serious and a total goofball, but he's dependable in tight situations. Also, he has developed a fear of ghosts. He and Samus have a brother-sister relationship.

It's good, except for the legs and the hands on the girl mecha are to skinny. It wouldn't support her frame. that is just food for thought ^_^ Other than that, it looks good
and teh wings need a bit more work in the detail department

I know I didn't detail the wings... I had already spent several hours drawing them and was sick to death of doing this sketch page.

Yeah :/ She looks like she could fall over in battle. But I guess you did have to stick to the original design. Kudo's for that.
And you could always do the wings on a rainy/snowy/ totally bored in school day ^_^

If you've played the games, she actually hustles along like a superathlete. I guess she can carry those huge shoulder pads all by herself.

Well, the Achilles Heel of Metroid is that it's actually hard for people to get into. When you get into it, it's lots of fun, but it's actually too rocky for casual gamers or gamers who want everything fast--which constitutes a lot of the gaming market. But, that's not to say Metroid isn't any fun.

Well, if it's some really, TRULY great Metroid you want, download Super Metroid onto the Wii's Virtual Console (If you have a Wii). Or, play Metroid Prime for Gamecube, or Metroid Zero Mission for the Gameboy Advance. Those are the best ones.

Hmm, I have all except Wii (I be a poor art student with three AP classes this year lol) and since my B-day is in one week exactly, I can get one of them with the money from someone (Probably my dear beloved Grandma.)
