Great tutorial. I look forward to trying the technique to make some of my own images. So far, I've only had time to follow the tutorial. One quick note: My results looked more like the pictures in the tutorial when I set Cylinder=0.1 instead of 1.

dang! thats true cylinder is set to 0.05 in the depicted flame - I wrote 1 - sorry for that

I tried starting from just a blank flame, and I must be missing something because all I get is some strange lines with a lot of static looking dots

hey ~rsidwell found the error the cylinder Xforms are not set to 1 but set to 0.05 - my fault! sorry

if you get dots you probaply have no variation on one of the triangles

I'll do that. I've tried a few other tutorials, and I get the same issues....things just don't quite sync correctly. It may just be something buried in the base settings

Love the way you presented the concepts in terms of everyday items that are easily visualized. A pearl of great price!

Thank you very much! However, no matter how religiously I follow your steps, I do not get the simple base, let alone the final result and such. I should get a clean, tiling effect after xform 7 is added and everything modified and you specify. Instead, all I get are messy lines that aren't going to get me to your crisp result.
I was wondering if there are things I'm missing here...
