Description Step by step of:

Forgive my poor explaining skills and grammar, I had to make it short I can't post the full size image of this drawing because of some issues and it's a commission c:
Though I don't want the details to go waste, so hopefully is this useful. I thought to post my brush settings too, incase you're curious. I use my own custum brush for lineart, everything else is almost default.

Actually I go though different processes depend on what I'm drawing, but this shows how I do linearted pieces. Even for a detailed drawing like this I didn't go over 20 layers XD
I don't know how people can find something when working on drawings with 60+ layers. Even with maps and naming them it's annoying to browse through.

I believe nobody would repost this so I'm not gonna heavily watermark everything.

I was wondering what type of brush tool you used for linearts.
And also, I thought draw the whole linearts first then use clipping group to recolor the line is pretty much lazier, but still faster then drawing the lines with separate layers...

Wow. I imagined you had to do a quite hard work for that awesome results, but this freaks me out o.o
I can't work with that much layers anyways, haha.
This is so useful, thank you

Hehe thanks ^_^ In the beginning I putted everything in one layer lol~ But trust me,
layers are helpful, especially when you wan't to do things fast and clean.
Actually I'm one of those artists who use really less layers for big pieces like this one
I know some people who make a new layer to color every little area or shade something. I don't like
too much layers either, as long as I don't need to scroll down a lot, the amount is fine.

I make something like two layers for shading and one for lighting. For example, skin1--skinshade1--skinshade2---skinlight
but sometimes I hoped I had use more layers, and sometimes I just hoped to have the maximum anti-layers skills and don't need them anymore :I (?)

Layers usually stress me. You know, that feeling, when you discover you're working in the wrong layer?

When I discovered how layers work and look at how other artists draw, I made new layers everytime I used a new color.
Do you hope to use as many layers as possible? XD Maybe using a lot layers look "professional" and makes the drawing look complicated,
but it's nothing more than your own preferences lolz.

Yes, that happened to me many times and I often merge layers together which are not supposed to be merged
That's why I try to use less layers, but enough to work efficient.
