And here it is! Part two of the (not really) long awaited tutorial on vectoring! It's more of a presentation of my technique rather than a tutorial but I tried to add pretty pictures and shiny tips to keep you entertained. I hope you can learn something from all of this. ^^

Glad you found it so. It's kind of outdated at this point and I was considering removing it entirely since vectoring tools in Photoshop have fallen a lot behind the curve of Illustrator or Inkscape.

I haven't done a vector since so long. Then i tried to use Photoshop to do a logo vector art for a contest.Actually it was really fine for me working on it.So ,i don't think you should remove the tutorial, some people still use Photoshop for vector art
(Sorry for my terrible english )

Your English is fine. It's good to know people still find those useful after all this time.

Daggers-Edge [2015-02-14 02:38:51 +0000 UTC]

the one question I have is what the brush setting do you have for the outlines? I can't seem to get crisp sharp lines

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Pirill-Poveniy In reply to Daggers-Edge [2015-02-14 11:50:54 +0000 UTC]

There are not brushes used. Just the pen tool.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Daggers-Edge In reply to Pirill-Poveniy [2015-02-15 19:00:58 +0000 UTC]

huh, for some reason I can't get it to fill in strokes after making the work path with the pen. (sorry, I've had CS5 for a year now and still have no clue what I'm doing xD)

Pirill-Poveniy In reply to Daggers-Edge [2015-02-16 17:40:15 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, are you sure you have the pen tool set to shape mode?Β goo.gl/K4upLE Try making sure you're following the tutorial instructions, maybe you're just missing something.

Sorry I can't be more helpful but I pretty much stopped vectoring in Photoshop quite a while ago, it's frankly rather terrible at it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Daggers-Edge In reply to Pirill-Poveniy [2015-02-20 22:37:00 +0000 UTC]

ahhhh I got it now, the thing that threw me off was that CS5 uses icons for that instead of a drop menu so that's why it confused me xD

sta.sh/01ml2j11kex2
the stroke on the left was from the path option, and the right was from the shape tool

Hmm...if you're having issues with it, perhaps you should try a different tutorial first. psd.tutsplus.com/tutorials/too… is an amazing one covering the basics of using the pen tool in Photoshop and there are quite a few other tutorials around the net concerning this.

Do you think my tutorial isn't clear enough in some section? Think anything could be improved?

Wait0wat [2013-05-12 23:40:28 +0000 UTC]

Wait, are you telling me that the line must must be vectored differently? Like the mouth, I know there are parts were the line breaks off, but dose it have to be very outline?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Pirill-Poveniy In reply to Wait0wat [2013-05-16 13:29:35 +0000 UTC]

I'm sorry, but I'm not entirely sure I know what you're referring to.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Wait0wat In reply to Pirill-Poveniy [2013-05-16 23:41:13 +0000 UTC]

I'm asking that if we need to trace the colored line's lines. Like the pic for Lyra's mouth and noes.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Pirill-Poveniy In reply to Wait0wat [2013-05-22 09:44:58 +0000 UTC]

I'm so sorry but I'm still not sure what you mean. Are you talking about tracing the mouth strokes? If so, there's nothing different to them than any other part of the vector, just follow your reference, and tweak any odd looking bits...
