You're the one that is claiming that something exists. Thus, you are the one that has the "Burden of Evidence." In any 'argument or debate' the one making the claim is the one that has to show that what they are claiming exists: actually exists.
If I were to claim that I had superpowers for example, you would want a demonstration.
So. Either I demonstrate my superpowers or I don't.
If I do, then it shows I have superpowers.
However if I don't, then you have no reason to believe that I have superpowers.
I can't just tell you "Well you can't prove that I don't have superpowers."
The burden of evidence is on me to show you that I -do- have superpowers.
Just as the burden of evidence right now is to show that you have what you are claiming to have.
