The blues and yellows used in the piece I think are what make it. When first looking at this it's immediately obvious you're looking at an underwater piece even if the fish weren't there. There's such rhythm and flow in how the hair move. Then you see the sun shining down through the ripples in the water which adds even more of an effect. The woman in the water is a striking blue color, but I don't just believe it's because she's underwater. She also has these interesting yellow facial marks surrounding her very vivid blue eyes. All of this I think leads the viewer to believe she's a sea creature but not just any sea creature, a mythical mermaid. The technique you used with the hair is amazing it truly looks like it's flowing in the water. You also succeeded nicely in making this creature look neither good nor evil. She does seem to have a sadness in her eyes though. In general this is an amazing piece of work. It draws the viewers eyes in and makes it almost hard to look away. In a way this piece tells it's own story. Good work.

This drawing is absolutely Wonderful! Perfect shading, blending, and light! It almost looked real to me! The fish look beautiful and so does her hair, I love how her hair is greenish blond because of the sea water. Her face is really realistic with those markings, I just think everything is perfect. My mouth just dropped when I first saw it. I defiantly love the background, it looks like shes swimming with the fishes, as I should say. Haha Great picture i love it. Also keep up the good work and never give up! That is your job to keep yourself happy.

The hair is truly wonderful its color and both texture look very realistic not to mention the shapes and movements of the hair I adore it. The eyes are the perfect shape and perfect color very realistic. I think maybe her right shoulder could be a little larger possibly longer and slightly higher maybe rounder and smoother. The skin is just right from her waist up and it matches her correctly and gives her good form to her enviorment. Her gold marking really catch my attention I love how bright you made them it seems bright but not too bright perfect color. The blurred fish bothers me but not too much I like how you made it blurred to show movement but perhaps a little less blur and some water movement had been added it would look better. I love how you managed to add the fish hidden by her hair it fits perfectly and doesnt disturb the peace of her hair. The fish scales are very very good I love how you shaped them just right and shaded them to fit one another the eyes have a slight glow to them and I think thats a very good detail as well. My last critique is the light I think maybe there could be a little more somewhat above the fish behind her hair.
This is a really lovely picture you have wonderful skill I hope to reach your level some day keep up the good work.

First off, this is a great, great piece. It will take me a long time to reach this level of art, if I ever do. And I can't believe you managed all this in a dozen hours. In short, this is AMAZING.
Now for the critiquing. I love how the girl's hair floats--you really captured the graceful waving of every strand--not to mention the lovely gold shimmers you artfully added around her eyes. The girl's right shoulder (left side of the picture) might be a little less angular, a little more curved and soft. Also, the smaller foreground fish looks a little blurred, and you might add a little more variation to the texture and color of the girl's skin.
Somehow, I feel the girl should be set off more. It looks like she's a bit crowded or something. I might make the fish less colorful, less distinctive, by tinting it about the color of the sea, and then maybe add more shiny gold sparkles to the girl, say on her arms, to make her stand out more. In fact, you might take the bronze-gold of the fish's scales and apply it to the girl instead.
Frankly, though, these are all small suggestions; the piece is just sublime the way it is. All in all, it's an exquisite piece of work--beautiful and delicate, filled with lifelike details. I'll be adding it to my favorites for sure.

When I look at this art piece The first thing I notice is the eyes. They look very real and I feel like they tell so much about the character. The hair also looks natural and realistic. The body also looks proportional and realistic, almost lively. The skin I think as been shaded just right, making it have a 3d effect. what bothers me is the second fish. My eyes find it hard to focus on the lady because the fish is blurred out my eyes try to focus on it and distracts me from the rest of the artwork. In all it is a very powerful art piece and captivates the eye.

This piece is as enchanting and mysterious as the the wonders of the seven seas and its inhabitants plus bodies of water in other galaxies other than ours. A great contrast of colors skills, human and animal anatomy (fishy), and good contrast of imagination and reality ( love it). Once again, I admire your skill, talent, knowledge and conceptual art understanding of sea biology and commercial ART. Chances are if I have to go under water to meet these pale eyes I'll pass. Keep up the good work and love life, Oh yeah... and thanks for letting me make you a concept favorite.

Wow, just, wow. I have been sent into a lose of words by this picture. I have seen amazing artists before, but you. You are in a class of your own. I can not begin to describe what I feel when I look at this picture. I can simply say, I feel content and relaxed. At peace with my self. Her hair moves how it should when under water. And the light fading into darkness is an amazing touch. Most people would have made slight adjustments in it, but you went all out. Many people do under sea pictures, but yours is the most original I have ever seen. The detailing on the girl is fantastic and the scales on the fish look so real. The fish in the back, however, is a bit to blurred and looks more like a turtle.... Other than that I have no complaints and I will be watching you for more fantastic art work. Keep up the good work!

I think I dont have to write how much I love this, because I can tell it to you right now! ^^ But you did a really wonderful job coloring the picture! I especially love the lighting, the fishes and her eyes! And my favourite part are the glowing golden signs all over her body! All in all this is wonderful, especially because you havent so much experience in drawing digitally! I really hope you will do more mermaids, because they all have a really special and unique look to them... You are a real master in Photoshop! Just great! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="
