Well....that didn't go as planned. I was talking to on skype and I had the idea to use the HF torso and the bug head piece as the body of a bug, and this was the admittedly lame result. I think it's lame at least. Feel free to agree or disagree. I'm gonna scrap it for sure, and maybe try again some other time, maybe. Or feel free to take a whack at it. just give me credit for the original concept or designs if you use em.
I dunno, maybe this might make a better grasshopper or maybe a stag beetle with some tweaking. That's why I'm posting, for documentation and feedback.

Both those MOC's weren't "amazing" but they were neat little builds. I've since taken the ember ant apart as well.

Looks like a Saharan silver ant. For fun I would make a sandwich and put these cute guys all over it.
I bet you would kill me if I said that you should make a centipede.

Oh I see. Well Derp ant is dead. I murdered him. I have a plan though to make new ones, but I'm going to make them smaller, and it'll be centered around a single part which is how most Mini-MOCs work.
I wouldn't expect you to since you're not an avid fan of bionicle. I hope all this bionicle talk isn't boring for you. I like exposing people to the cool stuff people do with it, but I know its not as exciting for others as it is to me. If I am boring you please tell me. I have this [link]

LegoJANG made the lego Centipede www.flickr.com/photos/thejang/5100470871/ it could probably be done better, but a concept like that by its very nature is resource heavy. The only way I could do this better would to be do it differently, which would mean using parts I don't have that much of. I probably could pull together a bunch of leg parts like he used, but if I'm gonna end up doing mostly the same thing, why bother?

Oh well thank you. If its over yours, its only because I have the parts to do so. I've seen some interesting stuff from you. I think your MOCing could use some refining, but you've got the potential to be a great MOCer 
Even if this is alright or even good, I put almost no effort into it. I know I could do better. I could actually give a shit and not use what I thought to be rather plain connections or designs. Plus the color distribution could...exist, let alone be better.

It would need larger mandibles for that, I was going to go with that by having Ben10 tails(the two black ones I got from Pyrox) as his mandables but I think that would have made his head too heavy and the over all MOC too front heavy. Oh well that's why its a derp ant and just a prototype. I'm pretty sure I'll come back to this at some point and do something neat. I'm leaning towards making a grashopper though. When was the last time you saw a bionicle Grasshopper?

Never seen a Bionicle grasshopper OR ant before, but I saw a praying mantis once. You could build a fire ant (native to the southern U.S. and made out of ground up hate demons).

Yeah, a praying Mantis seems a little obvious for someone to do cause of its "badassiness" Tame or boring things don't get MOCed as much. That's kinda what capitalizes on.
The fire ant looks too much like any old other ant. But I was kinda going for that with this by adding the orange. I'm not really gonna worry about it at this point. When I'm ready to come back to it, I'll figure out what exactly I end up making.

Thanks Gale. This is a basic idea, it needs tweaking and some actual effort. I doubt I'll come back with it as an Ant. I'm leaning towards making it a grasshopper. Changing the head around, filling in the bottom, and of course, beefing up the back legs.

Well, I like the general shape of it, and although you might've given up on it now, I can still see this going somewhere. The body does look a lot like an ant, might be your best choice
Let me ask you: were you still trying to make this a mini-moc? Because you could've gone for ball-joint connections, giving it a little more of a sturdy look. the bohrok teeth on its back do look a bit out of place tho.

You think so? I'm leaning towards a Grasshopper now. It makes a little more sense for being bigger, and having a single one. Ants kinda lend themselves to being in packs, so it feels a little dumb having just one. Either seems a little unique to Bionicle MOCing.
I was trying to go Mini-MOCish style. I could build on the legs from underneath the "shell" and have beefier legs. The way the Arachmix head could be connected to the HF body better in addition to the bohrok teeth being out of place. I was trying to go for like a body markings kinda thing there.

The shape of the design isn't bad, it just lacks armor on the underside and a color scheme that is actually reminiscent of an ant's. Go with as many black pieces as you can and try to mirror the top on the bottom and this should be a little bit more impressive. ^^

It is. I got to the head and was thinking "yeah okay this sucks" and stopped. I did have parts in place to fill in the bottom. I just decided to hell with it once I realized it was lame.

Oh, when you said you were using an Arachnix head, I thought you were going to use it as a head. It does make a pretty good thorax, but it looks bad with the Hero chest abdomen

Thanks. No actually it does make a good abdomen, I just have it on there in a weird way. I think if I position it better, and maybe actually have a part between the two to elongate things it'll look good.
