Description One of two bright stars in the constellation Gemini, Castor is actually a multi-star system that is believed to contain six solar bodies.  Composed of three separate binary systems, Castor is the 20th brightest "star" in our night sky.

Here is the updated, mostly final version:

flame smudge brushes  and fractal swirl brushes by PigMasterOra (parts of texture and corona)

As always, please let me know what you think!

Please Note: My images are not stock.  Free publications or scientific journals may use this image, however, with credit to planetrix.deviantart.com .

EDIT: Quick change to the corona, based on feedback from a few different people.  This is probably not entirely done, but here's version two anyway
EDIT 2: Downgrading this to a WIP.  I'll have a much better version uploaded soon.

Technically, three binary systems all orbiting around each other   So yes, six stars.  Cool, huh?

thats amazing, its hard to have a system of 2 or 3

so 6 is impressive

in universe sandbox 2 i cant even make a binary system, its so hard rip ;u;

I really like the dark background and smaller stars. The big star is also very good — but that corona ruins it all. It looks out of place, cheap and sloppy, like done in the last minute before submitting. Looking at your previous works I could say they way you did it there was much better. Maybe try to experiment with layer settings or do something else with it? It's a work for contest after all, and this detail is about to bury your chances.

Here are two other versions to demonstrate the problem:
The Castor Sytem (flame corona)
The Castor Sytem (no corona)

Since you ask me, I vote for no corona.

Thanks very much for the feedback.  I've gone with the lighter corona for now -- I waffled back and forth on it for awhile, but the version without felt really empty.

I don't think I'm done with this yet.  There's still over a month left in the contest, so I'll just revisit some more when I have time.

Thanks for the comment. I've used fractal flames for other coronas, but they look really out of place when the star is this close. I could try removing it entirely, perhaps?

Perhaps. Your work, your decisions.
