Description My first tutorial! After all that playing with this style, which I swear is now my favorite ever, I decided I knew enough to explain what I'm doing to all y'allz. Have fun with this but be warned, it's the most addictive style I've found yet because it is SOOOO easy to tweak, and if I'd had a tutorial like this years ago my gallery would probably contain nothing but this type of flame.

[link] and [link] are the ~pillemaster tutorials mentioned at the end.

Because ducky patterns can be elusive if that's what you're looking for, I've put together a pack of twelve duckies that can be used with this, skipping most of Part One ---> [link] However, there are lots of possible interesting non-ducky patterns as well!

Also, SHOW ME YOUR RESULTS I WANNA SEEEEEE~

I didn't render this - the fourth build from the tute. If I use 2 and -1 for the Jscope variables it's hideous. What am I not doing correctly?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this structurally - it looks exactly the way I would expect for a flame that just needed some "further playing" as the tutorial describes. The Jscope and Spherical transforms are just very, very sensitive to movement and resizing, and it can sometimes take a lot of time before they get into a position that makes something good; there's really nothing for it but to step away and come back to fiddle when you're bored sometimes, with these. Don't forget to try resizing and horizontal flipping too. Some more flattering colors may also help!

I played with the triangles a little more and got this, just by moving and resizing, no changing of variables at all - it really is just a question of fiddling and fiddling and fiddling until something interesting happens:

The ducks pattern is kind of elusive, I confess, which is why I put together a pack of twelve ducky patterns ready-made for this kind of work.

Thanks for looking it over! Yes!, they are hypersensitive - the tiniest nudge and the whole thing disappears right off the screen. Ugly gradient, yup , usually lock down the colors after the flame is built. I'll play with your params next and keep at it.

The tutorial is great though and I learned new things. Like that button for adding a linked Tx - wondered what it was for. (I right-click in the Xaos panel) The explanation about filling the channel(holes) made real sense! *lightbulbs lighting up*
Lots of food for thought.

Again, thanks!!!

One thing I've noticed for these is that for TX1 and TX2, smaller sizes tend to be better.

THe thing is that there are just so many possible patterns that can come out of this that it can take a while to sift through them until you find something interesting.

It's very interesting to look at! The fact that it ddoesn't look like the tutorial result can easily be chalked up to the fact that you used Loonie, which does produce some very non-ducky shapes.
