"Thank you Mario, but the Princess is in another castle"

[ Originally I wasn't going to upload this yet. But then I realized that I was going to start uploading SSB characters in multiples of five, and I already drew Fox as number 3, so I renamed Fox's submission to 10, and am going to use this as a replacement for 3. ]

Anyway. Toad. Yeah. I'm starting to feel like he's a pretty under rated Mario character who gets the shaft even from his own creators.

Yoshi is both a Generic species, and a character named after what he is. He's constantly getting playable roles and even has his own series.

Toad is the same exact thing, but he is far more downplayed, hasn't been playable outside spinoffs, and SMB2, and wasn't even playable in NSMBW, but instead we get a blue and yellow generic Toad. I'm not sure if the Toad brigade leader is supposed to be Toad or not, since his vest is red, instead of blue, but I like to imagine it's him alright, and if not, then the one with the snazzy cape in the opening cut scene was him. He did get to star in his very own puzzle game though, Wario's Woods.

He's been Princess Peach's B button move in Brawl for too long too, if you ask me. It's time he join the fight, bringing in some abilities from SMB2, Wario's Woods, and NSMBW with him. ( He's the only Mario newcomer I want really. )

Last time, I drew Toad grouped with other well known Toads, Toadette, and Toadsworth. I wanted to make up for it by giving the most important Toad in the series his own picture this time.

I don't know if I will be drawing Toadsworth or Toadette later on though. Maybe.

I really hope things start looking up for Toad. Nobody else seems to care about him, but god forbid if Luigi doesn't get some screen time.

I sampled all the colors aside from the ground, Bowser, and Toad, from a screenshot of Super Mario Bros.

EDIT: Apparently the leader of the Toad brigade is in fact, Toad, and the red Toad in SMS is also Toad. I was just reading up on his appearances in the various games, and instruction manuals and trading cards apparently list these two appearances as Toad. Come to think of it, I remember seeing really old artwork of Toad in a red vest in one of the old NES game manuals.
